Von Daniken has been instrumental in pushing for the idea that Ancient Aliens came to earth during evolution, and their presence resulted in the rapid expansion and growth of human intelligence. In his book Chariots of the Gods, Von Daniken argues that the pyramids were far too complex to have been built by the ancient societies. He goes on to point out the alignment of the pyramids. The pyramids are aligned in the same way as the magnetic compass of the world. Daniken’s argument is based on the fact that the materials used to build the pyramids and the sheer size of the blocks, which appear at the apex of the pyramids, might have needed machines and advanced technologies to achieve such feats (Daniken, 2014).
However, according to Ken Feder, the pyramids are a result of innumerable mistakes, trials, and errors that gave rise to perfect structures, which have stood the test of time. Mistakes and failures of the innumerable projects conducted by the Egyptians guided the lessons and provided valuable information regarding better models that could last longer (Feder, 2014). Therefore, according to Feder, the standard appearance and design were not a result of alien intervention, as Von Daniken would like to argue, but as a result of effort and never ending resolve.
The pyramid spectacle is a depiction of the slow, but gradual process that the ancient societies underwent in its construction and structural development to manage such mind-boggling feats (Feder, 2014). In as much as it would be easier to associate the intelligent structures to aliens, a deeper analysis of existing information shows the pyramids can be looked at as a reflection of the endpoint of a long process of technological refinement.
