The human nature is always characterized with an insatiable quest for satisfaction and happiness. The definition of satisfaction and happiness keep on varying from person to person in the diverse human race and nature. The only main item that connects the hearts of mankind across the universe is the art that comes along in many different forms. This paper therefore defends the thesis that art is the best treatment of the human soul in any period of time. This tends to imply that the art has got a form of satisfaction that the humans derive from it and this is the secret behind the art in itself. The thesis also means that the nature of the art in itself always goes beyond what any other elements of nature can offer. Therefore, it is very clear that art in its beauty and nature at any given time becomes the best treatment for the human soul.
There are different forms of art that exist in the world today and they have always, at all times played a very important role when it comes to the general satisfaction of the human soul. There are different ways in which art can be expressed and so this brings the different genres of art. This ranges from music, games, sports drawings, books and journals and the general art and architectures that are always expressed in the forms of objects and drawings. This implies that there are very many different ways in which this art can become a source of treatment for the human souls at all times. In addition, since different people have their own choice and preferences, the art has got all the options and alternatives that the human race may need when it comes to treating their souls.
There are different ways in which at treating the human souls and the ways include the following:
One of the major ways that art can be considered as the healer of the human soul is through its way of relieving stress. There are many things that always happen to the human beings at any particular time and most of them come against their wishes and so this always acts as a source of stress to the souls and to the body. The art in this context plays a very important role when it comes to the relieving of stress. Take for example, listening or laying music when one is subjected under stress. This form of art makes one to forget oneself for a moment and it brings a sense of solace and merry in the heart. This therefore relieves the body of the stress and treats the souls from developing different complications that ay result to very fatal results. Take another example of sporting. It is one of the best recommended arts that have been proved to be the best for the stress and depression treatment. This therefore implies that the art is the best treatment for the human soul (McNiff 78).
Additionally, art also increases tolerance, empathy and the feeling of love. Sometimes it is common and normal for people to feel lonely and not loved, especially when one becomes a victim of circumstances. This in actual sense means that sometimes it may be hard to console those who are undergoing grief, pain or loss and so art is the best medicine for such a happening. Doing something that one is passionate about, watching movies and even jus t listening to some inspiration is a very quick, effective and efficient way of healing the soul at any time. This is to imply that the art is the best way of treating the human soul. It brings out a sense of love, empathy and the general feeling of love (Luethje 29).
In another sense, art is a source of satisfaction and happiness. It is very clear that at the end of the human toils, the end of it is that the humans always crave for satisfaction and happiness. This can only be offered by the end means that is art. When people enjoy themselves and have fun or any form of entertainment, they get a huge satisfaction to their souls that is also happiness for them. In actual sense, the souls always require a sort of satisfaction that in turn becomes a source of treatment of the soul. This comes at any time, anywhere anyhow, and so very effective in quenching the thirst of the soul.
Art encourages creative thinking, this is another point supporting the argument regarding the importance of art. Art is important to human since it encourages creative thinking. Most of the studies have proved that to keep the brain alive, almost 83 neurotic exercises are needed to help in reducing memory loss and also to increase mental fitness. It was found that most of the mental decline cases are due to mainly the loss of communication between the brain cells. Brain exercise is described as the continuous use of once sense in new and novel ways. This definition of brain exercise clearly fits the definition of art. Art will enhance problem-solving skills and hence will in turn increase the problem solving skills. With oppose to mathematics, art has no definite answer. Art encourages creative thinking making one to come with his own unique solutions. Most of the complicated things the human beings perform require brain thinking and this can be encouraged by creative thinking.
Art boosts self-esteem and provides a sense of accomplishment. Self-esteem is one area that makes one to have a great drive in what he is doing. Most parents have been encouraged to engage in practices that will help boost the self-esteem of their children. A child who grows with a good self – esteem makes them to excel in most areas of their life. Self-esteem makes children grow with a lot of focus and concentration on what they do. A person with good self-esteem has a good planning and always will resist impulses hence achieve the goals that he has set. It makes one feel a sense of accomplishment once he achieves something (Ahmedzai et al. 123). Art will help one to increase his self-esteem by engaging in activities such as drawing, sewing and gardening.
Additionally, art increases brain connectivity and plasticity. People engage in very many new and complex activities and anytime that one engages in such activities, the brain forms new connections between the brain cells (Reilly et al. 250). The ability of one's brain to grow connections and change in his lifetime is known as brain plasticity. Brain connectivity is increased through engaging in various art. For example, creating art stimulates the communication between the brain and other parts of the body. Statistics has proved that those who engage in creative arts have resistance to stress and also have increased psychological resilience. It is also said that intelligence depends on brain connections which is boosted by art.
Art help in reducing the burden of chronic health conditions. There are the majority of people who have a chronic health condition such as stress, anxiety and depression and art help them in reducing this burden. There are so many surveys which have been conducted and it has proved that effects of art help them to improve physically and psychologically. Art help the patients not to concentrate on their condition and focus more on positive things. Creative art makes them feel a sense of achievement. Art also helps them to express their real feelings, hence reducing stress.
Art lessons make children to have a good education life. Most studies have proved that those students who engage in music and art programs become better students. It also said that those students with musical training perform very well in math, language and also reading. Studies have shown that music lessons enhance brain plasticity hence increasing the blood flow from the brain to other parts of the body. This makes students who engage in music lessons become more intelligent.
In conclusion, art is the best treatment for the human’s soul in any period of time. This is because art helps in relieving stress. For example, listening to music makes one not to have in stressful thought. Art also increase tolerance, empathy and the feeling of love, especially when one is undergoing through pain and grief. Art is a source of happiness to many. Art also encourages creative thinking. Art also burden to those with chronic health conditions. Art also increase plasticity and brain connections, this enables blood to flow from the brain to other parts of the body.
