Globally, the strategies, technologies and tactics used to carry out campaign politics have greatly evolved. The American presidential debate in 2008 carried a sizeable impact of prompt communication to engage the audience and establish a proper political support. During this initial Super Bowel broadcast, an hour campaign debate left great footage of the candidates outstretched to a number of audiences. According to political analysts, this first presidential debate marked a historical event to create the current positions of the two candidates. Around the clock, all media stations appeared midway to accelerate and prove the torrent success of the debate to the targeted audience. The audience climate was so diffuse and enthusiastic to push the information of support to their preferred candidate (Simendinger, 2008).
Research analysis indicates that the pathos elements were the greatest stylistic devices used in the episode. Mitt Romney categorically used the ethos elements to define himself as an acquitted politician and a businessman. He said, and I quote “I’ve led companies; I have governed great American state, and overseen Olympic Gameswhen they are pointing fingers you lead”. Romney categorically defines himself by providing a vast comparison between him and Barrack Obama. He convinces the audience that president Obama does not have any vision for women. Mitt Romney addresses the audience by promising to strengthen the Medicare and exploit new energy sources. He categorically criticizes the possibility of Obama’s administration. Barrack Obama, on the other hand, uses ethos by presenting his family to demonstrate his commitment to define the entire American. He said, and I quote “I am inspired by my own childrenthey make me want to work to the world and make it a little better rather than watching them”. He continues to promise a brighter future for the audience by saying “we have come farNow it is the time to push forward”. Obama uses Homophile when he tells the audience that it is the time for “us” to make a new chapter. He categorically uses the word “we and us”to denote his willingness work together with the people to bring change (Bronstein 2013).
The debate acting as a platform for political analysis, Obama proved as an outstanding candidate of the debate to capture the attention of the audience to greater levels in the entire American History since independence. The persuasive nature he uses to capture his audience using concrete analysis and vision made most of the American citizen believe in their dreamed changes. Romney failed to present most of his visions for America as he took the better part of the debate to criticize the Obama’s visions.
