What surprised me is the fact that accountants and auditors could play similar roles of preparing and checking financial records. I was also amazed by the fact that accounting professionals are also involved in ensuring that organizational operations run well regarding financial analysis and providing the relevant financial advice.
The types of positions in the accounting field include; financial managers, financial advisors, those responsible for bookkeeping, and the individuals responsible for analyzing financial budgets.
The jobs that resonated with me mostly include balancing the books of accounts and being a financial advisor. The reason for my choice is because the two are major jobs that involve analysis of finances to ascertain the accuracy of statements and inspect various accounting documents to provide in-depth reviews of their appropriateness for decision making.
The kinds of organizations in which the identified positions may be offered include insurance firms, government departments, corporations and banks.
The skills and additional training I would require in the accounting field include computer skills since most of the accounting operations require the use of accounting software applications. Additionally, I would require good communication skills due to the need to be accurate with facts and the need to compile reports that reflect excellent clarity and writing techniques. Lastly, I will also require reliable mathematical skills since accounting is all about analyzing and interpreting facts to come up with accurate figures.
I am very much interested in pursuing the accounting option since my passion has always been to work in a bank as an accountant. I also find the job more fulfilling and exciting due to its analytical nature.
