Policy: The teacher will provide children with nutritious meals and snacks daily based on the USDA nutrition model, My Plate.
Procedure:
Each day, the teacher is responsible for providing the following meals and snacks to each child in the facility at the time:
Meals and snacks will be based on the Recommended CACFP Nutritional Guidelines, as shown in Table 1 below.
Children will be given a healthy and balanced breakfast at 7:30 am.
Children will be given a healthy snack at 10:00 am, and again at 3:00 pm.
Children will be given lunch at 12:30 pm, incorporating healthy grains, fruits and vegetables.
Children will receive unlimited access to water at each meal and snack.
Between meal and snack times, children will be given water upon request.
All meals and snacks will be served at the table and each child will be allowed ample time to eat and digest their food.
Breastfeeding Allowances

Policy: The teacher will support breastfeeding mothers, creating a comfortable, safe environment for both mother and child.
Procedure:
Each teacher must comply with the following:
The teacher is responsible for labeling and refrigeration of prepared bottles. Labels should include the time of preparation.
Refrigerated bottles should be monitored and disposed of at the end of each day.
The teacher will inquire about infant feeding schedules and work with the parents to maintain continuity throughout the day.
The teacher will provide a private and sanitary area for breastfeeding or milk expression.
Disabilities and Special Needs Nutrition

Policy: The teacher will accommodate the needs of children with disabilities and special needs, providing exceptional care daily.
Procedure:
The teacher is responsible for the following:
Inquire and verify food allergies of each child with parents or guardians.
Supply table, chairs and utensils to accommodate the needs of a child with allergies, separate from others to avoid exposure to the allergen.
If necessary, cut all food into smaller pieces that are easier for the child to handle.
If necessary, allow the child ample time to eat and digest their food.
Maintain a dietary log, identifying the food and quantity consumed, daily.
Report changes or abnormal behaviors to parents or guardians.
