In today’s society, the use of technology has become a vital part of the lives of people. People spend more time on their computers, cellphones and other electronic devices for the most part of the day. Due to the use of electronic devices, many people are using social media networks for many reasons. Coca Cola has taken social media as one of its efficient and reliable way for mass marketing. The strategy guiding Coca Cola’s social strategy is to appeal to both current and potential customers of the company. The company is using social media to inspire moments of optimism and happiness to promote its brands. The company wants every person to promote its brands using the company’s values and policies. The social media strategy for Coca Cola is to share happiness with the world and it encourages its ambassadors to use sound judgment and common sense.
First, Coca Cola uses social media to reach its millions of fans and customers. Social media is one of the important ways for the company can keep in touch with its fans and customers regularly. For instance, Coca-Cola’s Facebook page has 63 million likes or fans on its page. The number of fans the company has on its page shows how well the company is keeping up with its customers and fans all over the world. It also suggests that the company has a successful social media marketing strategy because not many companies can compare the number of fans they have on their Facebook page to that of Coca Cola. Secondly, Coca Cola uses social media as a way to check whether people are satisfied with products and customer service. Today, many customers and fans go straight to a company’s social media page to complain about a bad product or poor customer service. For instance, there are retailers who complained on Coca Cola’s Twitter page about poor customer service they are experiencing about the company’s delivery timing and process. Coca Cola immediately replied to the retailer promising to fixing the problem. Social media helps the company find how people feel about their customer service and products.
Social media marketing is a successful part of the company’s marketing strategy. Coca Cola’s social media marketing is not only effective on the basis of the number of fans they have on their page, but how their consumers relate to the updates they share. Coca Cola is known for using polar bears in their commercials and on the international polar bear day, the company donated about 3 million euros to the arctic home. This shows its consumers that the company has a good social responsibility and they care about animals and the environment. Consumers like a company with good corporate social responsibility and Coca Cola takes the initiative to continually give back to protect animals and the environment. Coca Cola also attracts consumers with the “Share a Coke” campaign. This campaign has attracted many consumers and there have been over 125,000 posts about the campaign throughout every social media network. The campaign is the new coke bottle that has the name of popular names written on it. The campaign allows consumers to buy or share a coke with friends because of the name on the can or bottle.
Coca Cola and RED campaign is to help find a cure for AIDS. Coca Cola and RED campaign is a fun way for these two organizations to fund for a cure for AIDS to have an AIDS free generation. Coca Cola uses a dance group called Jabbawockeez to inspire to inspire youths to send videos of their dance moves, and for every thousand videos submitted Coca Cola will give money to buy lifesaving medicine for a person living with AIDS. The videos are submitted on YouTube or Instagram to create awareness among youth and young adults. Coca Cola and RED campaign create awareness and with the help of its fans and customers the world can find a cure for HIV/AIDS.
