Role of drug abuse in criminal activities
Introduction
According to Drapela (2006), drug use and abuse is not only detrimental to an individual’s health but also plays a role in facilitating criminal behavior in the society. The research aims to identify the root cause of the delinquents’ crimes (Maldonado, et al. 2010). This research will seek to provide strategies that will enable the administration of the right strategy that would alleviate criminal behavior completely (Anglin, et al. 2009). This strategy would indeed treat the cause of criminal behavior, rather than treating the symptoms of the problem (Haberstick, et al. 2011). Furthermore, the application of information from notable authors such as Barnes et al (2007) and Pinchevsky, et al. (2013) will enrich the contents of the paper as well as create the required perspective to enhance understanding of the topic under study. This research study will therefore evaluate the behavior expended by individuals using drugs and the impact they have on the individual’s behavior.
The issue of the relationship between drugs and criminal behavior is of paramount importance in order to shed light on the correlation between the two variables (Pires and Jenkins, 2007) Furthermore, as mentioned above, correction facilities can be able to administer the appropriate strategy to correct criminal behavior in the most effective way (Golub and Brownstein, 2013), if the research study is able to ascertain any factual information on the topic at hand. Most importantly, those caught on the wrong side of the law can be able to receive the appropriate rehabilitation to correct their criminal behavior (Valente, et al. 2007)
Those who will seek to benefit from this research study are mainly correction facilities, as explained above as well as the government. The government in this case will benefit from this study in the sense that it can be able to rehabilitate delinquents in correction facilities and reintroduce them back to society as changed individuals (Rowland, et al. 2008)
