In the past few months, we have made great progress on merging with an international company in Finland. I would like to express my appreciation of your hard work and commitment during these challenging but exciting times. We have chosen to merge with an international Finnish company and run the business in Finland.
In order to achieve our mission, understanding the top commodities produced in Finland is among our priorities. I would like our employees to familiarize themselves with the top commodities in Finland. These are electronics, forestry products, vehicles, chemicals and agricultural products.
The electronics sector accounts for three fourths on the total invest in technology-related research and development. As many as 54,000 Finnish workers have been employed by the industry. An additional 137,000 workers are employed in subsidiaries and factories abroad, most commonly found in Western Europe and Asia. 2010 receipts were at EUR 19 billion, with eighty percent of production exported globally (FFTI, 2015).
Forestry Products
An average of one hundred thousand private forest owners has received an income from wood trading from 2006 to 2011. 2007 was a prosperous year with EUR1.88 in revenues Farmers account for almost a third of forest owners.
Vehicles
As of 2014, the Finnish vehicle register listed 6,014,610 vehicles, of which 5,043,523 were in traffic use. The total number of registered vehicles grew by 2.6 percent and the number of vehicles in traffic use went up by 1.0 percent compared to 2013 (OSF, 2015).
Chemicals
The chemical sector is very important for the small country of Finland. In recent years, it has become Finland’s most important export industry. Chemicals are the country’s largest single product group in exports, reaching twenty-five percent of export receipts. The industry directly employs over 30,000 people in Finland and 29,000 people abroad. Chemical exports totaled EUR 13.3 billion in 2012. The reason for the growth is attributed to the innovative strategies that drive chemical companies (CIFF, 2013).
Agricultural Products
The number of farms has decreased by almost 20% in the last ten years. The biggest decrease, close to 30% where among farms that are between 20 to 30 hectares in size. There are 56,623 active agricultural enterprises as of 2012. The most important crops in Finland are cereals (wheat, rye, barley and oats), turnip rape, potato, sugar beet and grasses (OSF, 2012).
