Introduction
Every organization has some code of ethics that influence performance of the company. Ethics are the system of moral principles designed for the betterment of the company. Code of conduct is set of rules designed by the management to maintain a proper system in an organization. Human resource is the backbone of any organization. Ethical consideration of human resource influences the business of organization (Kimes et.al, 2013). Companies design different policies and code of conduct in order to provide as much facilities to their staff members to get complete loyalty from them. This paper is about the code of ethical conduct of Cheesecake Factory and I am the CEO of this restaurant. This paper includes a brief discussion about key areas of company’s code of conduct, its affect on employees and society.
Discussion
In the business plan, ethics has to do with the decisions of management, i.e., what the choices made by managers facing a plurality of options, having as background morality. Ethical code of conduct is designed to manage human resource efficiently. The designed policies of cheesecake factory restrict the employees to follow the code of conduct. The legal points ensure the supremacy of organization in all aspects.
The key areas of company’s code of conduct that plays an important role in business are compliance with laws, protection of the company’s confidential information, and protection and use of the company’s assets (Kimes et.al, 2013). It is necessary for the restaurant to act upon the laws of the operated country and designed by the management of restaurant in order to avoid future problems. If cheesecake factory want introduce new desert item that is unique and created by the cooking team which will increase their sale. A leak of information from any team member may affect the brand name of restaurant because other restaurants in the locality can introduce new food item designed by cheesecake restaurant (Kimes et.al, 2013). Other restaurants can take benefit of the innovative taste on the research of this restaurant. The protection of company’s assets is also important because any employee can utilize the assets for personal use such as (sharing of recipes, utilization of restaurant material, using machines of restaurant for personal parties etc.).
“Cheesecake Factory” designed some procedures and policies that force employees to follow the code of conduct. The management of restaurant deployed security cameras and guards in order to examine the performance of employees and also protect the restaurant from robberies. Guards are also used to enhance the security of restaurant (Kim et.al, 2013). The guards used by cheesecake restaurant are properly trained and have knowledge about the policies. They will stop employees if they violate the policy or use any thing with the permission of management.
These cameras are interlinked via network with each other and have the ability to rotate to enhance the scrutinizing capability. CCTV cameras continuously monitor the activities of employees and display that on a screen in monitoring department. During monitoring if the management of restaurant noticed any disturbance because of employees, they can take decision against them. Show cause is a notice that is a technique to force employee to do not violate laws (Kimes et.al, 2013). It is warning to employee for not following the instructions. Company may issue show cause to employees for violating laws and also have the power to dismiss the employees on the spot in case of severe disobedience.
It also has the ability of auto recording so no employee can misguide the management. These steps taken by the restaurant management ensure that employees and other staff members follow the code of conduct. Proper utilization of energy, environment, and human resource are three ways in which the restaurant can engage in socially responsive activities in the community within which it operates (Kimes et.al, 2013). It is necessary for every company to utilize the resources efficiently in order to save them for future. This restaurant will dump the garbage in digs or dispose off in a proper manner in order to avoid environmental pollution. In this way restaurant contributes its share to the society.
Restaurant use energy efficient lights in all departments and effectively use them with the help of automated sensor system that turn off the lights during day time automatically. This system saves a lot of energy that can be used for other appliances. It also reduces electricity bills that contribute in profit margin of the restaurant (Kim et.al, 2013). Cheesecake restaurant hire most capable and hardworking employees for each department. Employees have to pass online exam and a test in order to get the job. In short, they choose experts in desired posts. As a result restaurant produces hygienic food for the people of the society.
Conclusion
Ethical code of conduct of cheesecake restaurant is a framework designed by the management in order to produce a healthy and reliable environment of work that leads the business towards success. Ethical policy of cheesecake restaurant offer different benefits to employees but also have a check on their activities by deploying some monitoring equipments in organization. These policies make employees loyal and ensure that employees follow the code of conduct.
