If I were a Governor
Texas is one of the best cities in the United States. The past leaders worked exceptionally well in taking Texas to its status. They need to be applauded for their exemplary work. The current office of the governor has been working with other local leaders to ensure that improvement is realized. As the governor of Texas, I would be committed to serving the people of Texas City. My primary objective would be ensuring that all citizens are safe from any harm. Additionally, I would be committed to promoting economic development as well as implementing the laws of the city. It would ensure that all the citizens benefit from the enacted laws. To achieve these objectives, I can work to regulate firearms, increase the cost of education, and ensure proper planning of the city.
It is essential for firearms to be regulated by the local authority. When the guns are easily accessible, people tend to own guns without any licenses. The trend increases the rate of crime within the boundaries of the city. Concerning the Orlando gay nightclub attack, it is crucial for possession of guns to be regulated. The Orlando attack left approximately 49 people dead and several others injured (Federal Bureau of Investigation). When purchasing of guns is restricted to individuals without a history of violence, the crime rate within the city will reduce. For a citizen to possess a gun within Texas, it would be difficult. A thorough background checking of the gun holder will also be done.
Increase the cost of Education
The cost of education has been rising steadily with the increasing world’s economic struggles. As a student, I deeply realize the importance of education. When I was in high school, I witnessed many of my friends not able to join colleges due to their inability to raise the required fees. The amount of money generated at their respective homes was not enough to cater for their basic needs as well as tuition fees. In most schools, there are inadequate educational resources. Due to this limitation regarding resources, the classes are always crowded (Jillson 21). The ratio of teachers to students is high leading to some students not getting enough attention from the teachers. There is a need for smaller classes to improve the student-teacher ratio. This necessitates equipping the schools with the essential tools that are lacking. This can improve the grades scored by the students.
The magnitude of the floods that have ravaged the Texan City has been huge. This has been due to poor city planning (Allaby 2). Within the past two years, natural disasters have led to increased mortality as well as homelessness. This has seriously affected the economy of the city. Therefore, to remedy the situation, for proper planning of Texas City is important. Several local pathways are bad and are not in a position to allow for proper drainages. These need to be reconstructed.
If I were the governor of Texas, I would ensure everyone is safe and protected by the enacted laws of the city. Safety of all citizens would be my priority as the governor. It is essential to ensure that the economic condition of the city improves. This would then improve other sectors of the economy.
