Introduction
This paper gives a collection of emails that ware used to communicate specific dispute position between the sender and the recipient. The emails detail the specific situation and request a change in those positions.
It has come to the notice of the group (business law discussion group) that your assignments are lately not submitted within the timeframes set by the supervisor. You have also consistently missed time deadlines as set in our group.
We are deeply worried by this trend since it might cost the entire group a substantial loss in marks awarded for grading in this subject. Due to this fact the group wishes to find out if there are any specific concerns which could be handled by the team. Feel free to share with us you areas of difficulty so as to enable us move forward as a team. However, if there are no immediate concerns that the team could handle, we encourage you to observe the time deadlines for the specific individual assignments submissions.
Thanks,
Greetings Professor Johnson,
I recently applied for an internship with a marketing company which comes up this summer. As a requirement, the company has requested that I send a letter of recommendation detailing my ability to undertake the marketing internship and any other qualifications that are relevant to the nature of the marketing internship.
As a basic requirement for the internship, I have successfully completed a marketing course which you were the facilitator in the last semester. As a result, I would wish that you recommend me for this post. I am not very sure how busy you are sir, but this request comes with many urgencies. For this reason, I would appreciate if I obtain the recommendation within the course of the week.
Thanks,
An email requesting for the reassessment of an accounting paper taken in the final exams
Greetings Mr. Whiffen,
I have just received my final grade in the accounting paper which was taken in the final exams. However, after observing the rubrics provided for assessment and analyzing my script, I have not been able to explicitly identify the specific areas where my submission went wrong.
Is there any possibility that the grade obtained in this paper was as a result of some error or mistake in the assessment? Or is there is a possibility that you could reexamine the paper to help me identify the mistake with the submission? If this is the case I would wish to request for a reassessment of my paper. This could help correct the error and elevate my grades in the exams.
Thanks,
Personal reflection
In communicating a dispute through email, it is important to observe the level of etiquette that professional communication comes with. In this exercise I have observed a number of communication skills that relate to the use of emails in professional communication. It is important to note that while communicating professionally through an email, one is required to be precise and use a language that is understood by both parties. In this case, the choice of English as a language for communication is ideal. The language should have grammatically constructed sentences with meaning. The meaning could be altered when the language grammar is not observed. In a case where the meaning is distorted, the two parties communicating will be reading the same thing but taking different position. Therefore the objective of the communication will not be achieved.
The observation of personal etiquette is also important. It would be rude not to provide a form of greeting in the email. This sets the terms of engagement between the parties as friendly. The aim of the email is to communicate a position and hopefully the adoption of such position by both communicating parties. In the absence of a friendly environment, animosity is likely to prevail and the achievement of this objective will be difficult. Greetings also show a level of respect to the person with whom you are communicating to.
Finally the tone of the email should be set or adjusted to fit the objectives of the communication. When the purpose of communication is to advance a request for example, the tone should be submissive and leave the outcome of the engagement to the person whom the request has been made. An overly arrogant tone could be interpreted as insubordination or blackmail by the recipient of the communication.
