There are several things that need to be included in the proposal for the new health care hall of fame museum. The museum is to be built in honor of the five different developments for the evolution of health care in the United States of America. All of these developments have helped to change and save the lives of some many people and they will be shown in the form of exhibits.
The first exhibit will be for the medications and vaccines. Medications and vaccines are a very important part of healthcare. This is because they can help to decrease the number of people who have to be hospitalized or die. There have been many advances in medical science that keep people protected from a variety of diseases. Medications can be used to heal, stop, and prevent diseases. The medications can going to be in the form of tablets, drugs, syrup, and exercise. When a person is sick, they are going to take medicine for different reasons. The medications are going to help get a person back to normal.
The second exhibit will be nursing. It is very important for nurses to finally get the respect that they deserve. After the civil war, nursing become more of a profession because three training schools were formed. Females were stereotyped with nursing since it was more of a nurturing type of occupation. But over the years, this stereotype has gradually changed. During the period when nursing was becoming profession, the nurses were paid low wages since they were not a lot of jobs available for women at that time. The women required to become a nurse while their husbands became the doctors. The nurse is going to be spending the most time with the patient so they are going to know the most about the patient.
The third exhibit will be for health coverage. It has always been a struggle to get the proper health coverage in the United States. The first president to break this up to Congress was Harry Truman. In 1945, he tried to pass a program for national insurance. Over the years, many presidents of the United States have tried to make changes to the programs for the American people regarding the health care reform. Then in 2010, President Obama was able to sign into law the “Affordable Health Act” so that health coverage could be extended to the millions of people who did not have health insurance. As a result of this act, everyone would have to pay a fine if they did not sign up for health insurance and companies would be required to cover all of their employees.
The fourth exhibit is for public health. In 1872, the American Public Health Association was established. When it comes to the public health department, it is the oldest organization. The association was created to protect the families and communities from any type of a threat to their health and to prevent the spread of diseases. Before the association was established, Americans did not understand anything about the spread of germs. Therefore, there was a huge contamination from human waste that lead to the death of many Americans. This caused a search for the epidemic that lead to the deaths. In the 20th century, things begin to chance because of the discovery of the vaccinations for many diseases. Doctors even begin to inspect our foods more like contaminates of milk (Alpha, p. 275).
