Many people lie and cheat, and many have done worse but what separates us is the fact that some of us make these mistakes a habit while for others they are just one time offences. Many might find this hard to believe, but Jane has “never” told a lie because, in the rear chance, she did lie by means of omission she had always come clean about it. The first time Jane lied to her mom, her mom smiled at her, then tipped her chin up so she could look at her as she said, “people that are not used to to lying should not lie because lying is an art that takes much practice”.
Everyone knows attending university is difficult, many persons become stressed during their tenure. We all know that cheating happens at university because many persons do not want to retake a subject or the simple pressure of failing or persons feel pressured because of financial strains, therefore, redoing courses is not in their budget. Cheating is one way of lying and as you know Jane does not lie but we all have our lapse in judgment, when we do things contrary to our attitudes and beliefs. It was Jane’s third year of university, and she was struggling financially and emotionally. So, you can imagine she would most likely be having issues with her courses, which was true for about three of them.
Nearing the end of the year, Jane managed to bring her grades up for two failing subjects. Regrettably for the third subject, only final exam could help; guess what? Jane cheated. She had never cheated before, and this bothered her but she could not come clean about it, as she did not have the money to do a re-sit. Instead, she asked the professor for an assignment to bring her grade up. He did not hesitate as he knew she was struggling with his course but again this was just to ensure she passed. It kept gnawing at Jane, so she needed a way to have penance for her wrongdoing, therefore, when she entered her final year she asked if she could sit in that same class she was failing. After some time of sitting in the class, Jane started to understand and even started helping the third year students.
