Stereotype and suspicion are areas that need to be well handled in the fight against crime and areas of criminal justice. In our case, the suspicion takes different perspectives one; since it sounds like an ethnic suspicion and two, the security guard suspicion has not been proved right. First, the police department should handle and proof the truth of the matter. This can be done through the use of the surveillance cameras to confirm the suspicion of the Hispanics. The malls surveillance room should be secured first and the entire CCTV camera handle by the police.
A team of special units should be dispatch at the sight immediately to investigate on the matters. The team should include the anti-attackers units to secure the mall. The Merchants are already in fear and therefore the security team should ensure their safety together with customers in the mall.
The security guard should give clear evidence why he is very sure of the suspects as they might be attackers. This should be through fast interrogation to give sufficient information to the actions undertaken. In case of prior suspicion, the mall should be evacuated and businesses closed immediately. This should be done since the suspects could either be terrorists like the ETA terrorist groups which are usually Hispanics. Therefore the mall should be evacuated to safer grounds. As this is done the building should be surrounded and metal detectors together sniffer dong used just in case the there are dangerous chemical or explosives.
The suspects should be arrested, interrogated to give more information. This action should be done fast enough before any damage is done. However, they are just suspects and thus, care should be taken since they might be just normal customers trying to shop just like the others. As the operation is being undertaken, the merchant, customers and other people in the businesses within the mall should be well secured before any further damage is done.
Stereotype and suspicion is usually sensitive matter and should be delicately dealt with to avoid accusing the wrong people. In case of the people suspected are criminals, the police action should be immediately deployed to the area for security. The suspect should be arrest before any damage is done and taken to the court for sentencing.
Finally, where the criminals are proven guilty, they should be prosecuted by law and required verdict held with the required sentence as well according to their guilt.
Relationships among communities are usually a very sensitive matter to deal with especially to a police officer. The sector deals with a number of issues that should be well scrutinized. Racial discrimination, intervention, assessment and ethical issues are some of the instigators of this problem. For instance, in America cultural back ground are some of the challenges that the residents are facing.
Therefore, as a police officer faced with ethical problems within African American and Korean, it would be miscarry to first understand the root cause of the problem. For actions to be undertaken then It would be good to understand both sides of the group. In our case, the African American seems to be the ones miss-handled however, as an officer one should not favor one side.
Proper therapy should be undertaken to explain the ethical issues that need to be understood within the two cultures. Ethical issues should be the respect of each other irrespective of their backgrounds and culture. This as a police offer should be best done through counseling that should involve both groups collectively. Counseling should be done with respect to the standards of law as provided in the laws of America. There should be set difference in both cultures. This should be performed through conferences, activities that involve cultures, lectures and games. Arbitration between the two communities should be avoided. As a law enforce, the responsibility is maintaining law and order and incase one is found guilty, proper prosecution and sentence should be enacted.
The American Korean arrest over petty theft should be well dealt with. This is due to one; it is referred to as theft which is an offence by laws of American. Two, Favor should not be undertaken over any side. Therefore, as an officer and with the task of maintaining law and order, theft is a crime that needs the guilt to be arrested. As a responsible officer, one should advice the demonstrating African America on the reason of arrest citing the laws over such matter in America. A crime is a crime and any one with such offence should not be favored, the law states that anybody involved in theft should be arrested and prosecuted. The two groups are different and thus, the sensitivity of the difference should not be neglected but again, it should be well handled sensitively.
Relations between communities has in the recent years been a challenge in most the countries but with care and avoiding ethnicity, the situation can be easily handled. As law enforcer, the guilty should be prosecuted irrespective of any tribal or cultural background.
