Reflection – Question 3
As a leader, I think that the more those who work beside and under me know about my strengths, the better equipped they are to know when and what to ask me for when they need it. For example, three of my strengths are the ability to think outside the box, listening, and helping people work through problems. These three traits, while different, are very much related. For example, a staff member is stuck working on a plan of action I assigned to them. They are frustrated and showing their frustration. Someone mentions to go see me. Now because they know, from previous experience, that I am a good listener they think at least I will hear how upset they are. While they are right, they are also lucky enough to have someone who will listen while guiding them through helpful suggestions and ideas on how to work out their problem. This helps them to feel better about themselves and gets the task done; it is also a win for me as I get a happy employee and successful work project completed.
Action – Question 2
Action – Question 3
I am a relationship building leader focusing on building strong relationships between those who work for me, beside me, and above me. I believe that communication at all levels and in all areas of business are imperative to the smooth running of said business. My supporters follow me because they know I include them in decision-making processes, as well as I am able to make the final call when needed. Because I have built up trust through communication with my working community, they have come to know when to ask for help, when to suggest changes, and when to agree with my decisions.
