The process of selecting learning activities that constitute the school curriculum can be very daunting or challenging (Dickerson, 2003, p. 45). As a result, some principles are widely used to guide the strategies and approaches that instructors use to select the day-to-day learning activities that they give their students. Furthermore, schools use the principles to guide the process of selecting resources that enhance learning and teaching programs (Dickerson, 2003, p. 49).The learning principle that I will explore in this paper is allowing realistic amounts of time for every task
Specifically, this principle will be very important for my selected area of education because learning needs energy and time, and effective time management is crucial for all learners or students. Apportioning realistic amounts of time for particular learning activities will enable me to complete tasks within the given timeframe. By allowing appropriate and realistic amounts of time for all learning activities, students can engage in effective learning while instructors are also able to teach effectively (Billings and Halstead, 2011). This principle is important because it will enable me to learn how to make quick decisions regarding patient care and wellbeing. Nursing is an extremely demanding career, and during busy shifts, nurses hardly get enough time to sit down and rest. Therefore, improving my time management skills will enable me to become a much more effective nurse who will be able to address the patients’ needs in less time (Dickerson, 2003, p. 67).
In sum, emphasizing time on tasks is an important principle that guides learning activities. By appertaining appropriate time frames to various learning activities, I will be able to improve my time management skills, which will be important in my career as a nurse. Furthermore, emphasizing time of tasks will help me to complete my assignments promptly.
