Differences
The Kaiser Permanente (KP) is an autonomous integrated not-for-profit health care organization. It comprises of the Kaiser Foundation Health Plan, Permanente Medical Groups, and Kaiser Foundation Hospitals. The organization has its services spread across eight regions. It focuses on the successful evolution of a system that encourages physician and managerial partnership for quality and efficiency in patient care.
The Mayo Clinic is a non-profitable healthcare organization based in Rochester Minnesota. This organization concentrates on education, medical practice and research. It operates as one of the largest nonprofit organizations in the world that specialize in complex healthcare issues through tertiary care practices. In medical practice, Mayo Clinic caters for the needs of over 1 million patients across the world. Their role is to offer specialized care to patients referred from smaller hospitals around the world. Through research, the organization has numerous researchers that offer adequate contributions on various topics such as epidemiology and clinical practice. Finally, through education, the Mayo Clinic works closely with the University of Minnesota in training various kinds of medical personnel.
The American Heart Association is America’s pioneer health care organization that concentrates on the fight against stroke and heart disease. It uses over 22 million volunteers to fund innovate research, conduct public education, and offer tools necessary to improve and save Americans from these conditions. Most importantly, the organization uses public health education to help the populace understand the importance of making healthy life choices. They also equip physicians with EBP guidelines to assist in the provision of quality health care.
United Health Group is a managed care organization headquartered in Minnetonka. It offers a wide range of healthcare products through its United Healthcare and Optum businesses. The two businesses serve to introduce innovative solutions to help improve personal and public health. They rely on clinical care resources and ICT systems to help millions of Americans join a structured system of care benefits. The eventual aim is to establish a strong, quality, and sustainable health system.
The Relationship between Mission, Vision, and Values
The interconnection among the four organizations’ mission statements is their focus on improving health through various propositions. For instance, the Kaiser Permanente (KP)’s mission is to provide affordable and quality health care services as well as improve the health statuses of the communities and members under their jurisdiction. Similarly, the American Heart Association (AHA) focuses on building healthier lives that are free of CVDs and stroke. Third, the United Health Group looks at helping individuals live healthy lives and make the health care system function appropriately for everyone. Finally, Mayo looks into inspiring hope as well as contributing to wellbeing and health. It does this through the provision of quality care using integrated education, clinical practice, and research (Swansburg & Swansburg, 2002).
The vision statements also a shared interest in making life better for their target populations. For instance, both MC and KP would like to become trusted partners that assist individuals to thrive as well as create the healthiest of all communities. Second, AHA aims at ultimately improving the lives of Americans through the provision of public health education. Third, UHG uses managed care to enhance the performance of the American health system. Overall, the organization would want to improve the wellbeing and overall health of individuals under the organization’s care system (Current Nursing, 2013).
Finally, there are slight similarities in the values that make each of this organizations. However, all of them are unique in their ways when stating their individual values. For instance, KP treasures accountability, quality, efficiency, partnership, and innovation. Second, AHA establishes its mission around the need for integrity, excellence, vision, dedication, inclusiveness, and sensitivity. Third, UHG values integrity, performance, innovation, compassion, and relationships. Lastly, MC involves itself around patient-centeredness, respect, compassion, integrity, healing, teamwork, excellence, innovation, and stewardship.
