Among the many museums present in America, I chose to go to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, which attracts around a million people throughout the year. The museum contains millions of works related to the history of art spanning between the ancient and present time. With my first step in the museum, I felt I had entered an entire different world where the people had immense knowledge about the artwork that the museum held. It was exciting for me to be among that environment as it enhanced my desire to learn more about the art displayed in the museum. The collection in the museum ranges between the ancient times to the present artists who are given an opportunity to show their work to the audience and get it recognized. Apart from the display or artwork, LACMA also features concert and film series.
It is a huge building with every work being given its own place. It consisted of a variety of contemporary paintings and models including Modern and contemporary art, American and Latin American art, Asian art, Greek, Roman and Etruscan art, etc. Looking through the different art works, I was attracted by apiece called Dancing Man 1981 by Joel Shapiro. The artwork was made of Media Cherry wood, paint and oil and it had a very attractive position. By looking at the work, I felt carefree and wished that the dancing man could come to life and perform his carefree dance in the museum. Another piece of art that I liked was the Comb by Vija Celmins 1970. This sculpture was enamel on wood and had a very neat look to it.
The LACMA museum was a beautiful world of artists and artwork, which took me to an entirely different world. It was a huge museum with different buildings consisting of different artworks, all of which deserve more visits than one. It enhanced my ability to learn more about different artists and different forms of arts so that next time on my visit, I know plenty of information to understand the works.
