Communication is the process of passing information from one another in an understandable way and getting a response that is aligned to the information that one has just passed on. For one to clearly communicate with another person, there are a few conditions that should be fulfilled. These conditions ensure that the two parties are able to understand each other in the process of exchanging information. There are different levels of communication as well as different ways through which different people communicate. The relationship between people is a big decider in ho the communication process carries on. These unspoken rules and regulations have been present for longer periods and have been decisive in depicting the direction that is taken by a communication process between two or more people. In the chapters viewed, the author analyzes the different ways through different levels of communication operate. He moves on to analyze the different rules that are involved in the different levels of communication and how the parties involved play big roles in deciding the different levels of communication that they choose to operate in. The social circles in life are also big influences in how communication process takes place between people.
In chapter 10, the author has talked of the family ties as well the family interaction patterns within family members. In different geographic positions, family interactions are different. However, in most of the families across the globe, there are several qualities that are shared between the family members. These qualities are the defining qualities of families. In one instance, the author talks of how a family was united through the loss of their father through a sailing accident. This accident brought the family members together and that the bonds that they shared could not match any other bonds that the family members shared with other people. For family ties and unions, the act of doing things together as well as the possibility of blood union creates powerful bonds that precede any form of communication that takes place between the members of the family.
In chapter 11, the author has talked of intimate relationships and the creation of dyadic identities. In this chapter, the author defines how the normal friendships cross over the rules and regulations into the intimate relationships. This crossing over is often underestimated and that most people do not know the boundaries that are involved. He goes on to explain how the team members of a surgical group may not know that they have an intimate relationship among themselves. This happens as they may find themselves enjoying more and more of each other’s company than the rest of the people. In normal couples, the process of intimacy often follows a pattern as well as rules that are curved out. This topic has explained the different relationships that are born out of experienced and mature friendships. This chapter has also explained how most people find it hard to express themselves and how they may remain close friends but not intimate friends due to their inability to express themselves.
In chapter twenty six, the author is explaining the relational dialects theory. This theory is used to find the real meaning of what people might be saying especially when they are involved in conflicting discourses. The author explains how a person may say that he is emotionally involved with another person and that they are not that close. This chapter explains how one might be able to clearly find the meaning to such instances.
In conclusion, the different levels of communication are major determinants in the type of bonds that we might share. These bonds are nurtured over time and that they bring the best of a person in communication. The different levels of communication have been affected by how these levels are perceived by human beings in different categories. The process of communication involves more complex relationships that are ignored by many people.
