History of Interpretation Essay
Introduction
"Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under Heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved" (Acts 4:12). The words of this saying are salient in themselves, but they are even more salient when it is considered that when they are spoken and by whom they are spoken. However, they were spoken by a friendless and a poor Christian, in a Jewish Council. Additionally, it was the grand confession of the Christ. Apostle Peter, a man who has forsook the Jesus and then fled away, and denied his God, has also spoken these words. In this paper, this verse is described because of the virtues such as truth and love, sincerity, usefulness of the religion, and relativism that is required by the individuals in order to lead a smooth life. I come to describe this verse because of the fact that nowadays these virtues are becoming extinct in the individuals, and they are facing troubles in their daily life. So, if one explores the meaning of this verse, then he/she becomes satisfied and contented in his/her life.
Explanation
If the doctrine of the St. Peter is considered then he is of the view that only Jesus Christ can save himself from the guilts, sins, power and the consequences associated with them, he can have peace with God, and can obtain pardon. So, the things taught by Jesus Christ should be followed. This is because uncountable mercies of God come down to the earth from Heaven through Christ. Christ blood has the power to cleanse the individuals, the righteousness of Christ can clothe individuals, the merits of Christ have the authority to give the individual title to the Heaven. Thus, the Gentiles and the Jews, learned, unlearned, poor and king all can be saved by Jesus and can be lost by him forever. Further, the Apostle has also made it clear that no one in this that is sealed, appointed and commissioned by the God to be the Saviour of the sinners, but he is only the Christ that is bestowed with all such blessings. The Egyptians also consider him the best helper as during feminine there were none from whom people can help except the Christ. So, there is no salvation except by the Jesus Christ. So, the individuals should venture their soul's salvation just of Christ. They should not consider other trusts and hopes, and he should be fully considered while keeping the churches, and at the time of receiving the sacrament, so that individuals can lead a happy life, free from the tensions, and the verse under consideration is also indicating the same.
Furthermore, the verse is also an indication of the fact that the Heaven is just before the individuals and Christ is the door into the Heaven, hell is beneath, and following the teachings of Christ will be helpful in delivering the individuals from hell to heaven. Further, devil is following people, and just Christ’s preachings can save people from the devil, sins can weigh the individuals down, but teachings Christ is powerful enough to put the sins away, which is also the doctrine of the verse. Heaven is before us, and Christ the only door into it; Hell beneath us, and Christ alone able to deliver us from it; the devil behind us, and Christ the only refuge from his wrath and accusations; the law against us, and Christ alone able to redeem us; sin weighing us down, and Christ alone able to put it away. This is the doctrine of the text.
Love and Truth
The verse is also significant and is worth of consideration because it is teaching love and the truth. An individual can go to heaven by following the teachings of Christ, Christ has taught that when a person purify his soul in the obedience to truth, and love one another with the pure heart, clean from malice, then he/she will be able to worship his Lord, and also become able to achieve a higher place in the Heaven. Jesus Christ has also taught to love the individuals and leave the entire judgements on God. So, there is no salvation in any, but Christ, and there is no other name given under the heaven whereby the individuals should be saved.
Religion’s usefulness
Another remarkable consequence of the verse that is under consideration is the usefulness of the religion. A person who recites this verse will become inquisitive about the history associated with the verse and the background of the religion. God has created Christ, so that the lost man can be brought to the salvation by teaching good deeds and virtues. So, God has bestowed the individuals with a character in their eyes that help them to understand the useful aspects of their religion. Salvation is the cleansing of conscious from the previous guilts, it is the restoration of the individual from his declined estate, so Christ has fixed the standing of individual for salvation of God more secure as compared to the previous situation of illiteracy that was prevailing in the society.
There are some people, who have added unnecessary things in the salvation of Christ. It is easy to consider the beliefs mentioned in Trinity, and the reverence for Christ, but the addition is quite difficult to digest for some individuals.
Sincerity
The verse is also an indication of the sincerity that if the people are right, earnest and sincere then they will remain protected and safe. The same fact is emphasized in the Bible. Christ has also taught to give sincere advice to others, so that they become successful in their mission. So, the salvation out of Christ’s doctrine is not acceptable in any way, because the virtues are not accurately mentioned in it.
Relativism
Further, the verse is also an indication of the relativism, which is indicative of the fact that every word in the Bible is truth, and Jesus Christ has forwarded the teachings of the Holy Bible to people. The Bible is a truth because it is inspired and stimulated word of the God. The Christians also believe that God is the creator of the human race and also the Sovereign and supreme power of the universe, and only he, has the rights to set the moral laws and not a society full of sins, which is also preached by the Christ. If the modern Bible is considered then it is also claimed that there are certain changes in the Holy book. But, apart from this fact still there are many virtues in the Bible that are preached by Jesus Christs, such as the Worship of the God, Jesus also worshipped God.
Since Salvation is only associated with Christ, so it should be tried to convey the preachings of Christ to the millions of people that are living in the miserable conditions, a true Christian should ought to have soft corner for them, a virtue that is consistent with the verse under analysis. All Christian communities should work for them, and make every effort to facilitate them. In this regard, the circle of the relatives and friends should be considered. In every measure Christ should be considered as the sole standard, and his teachings should be considered. The charity and the liberality can be wider as mentioned in the Bible are taught by Christ. Further, the individuals should love the God and other individuals unconditionally.
In a nutshell, Christ has preached the words of God in order to make the people secure and to prevent them from the diseases of the society, so that they can enjoy peaceful living in the society. An individual fails to find the salvation in the Christ, is not able to find salvation at any other place. God has sent prophets, including so that they can take the people from darkness to the light, and teach them the virtues that are required in order to live a pious life, that can be helpful in taking the individual to Heaven. These virtues also provide protection against the devil. The facts and the words mentioned have the power to draw the individuals to Christ, and remain contented with his teachings. So, believing on Jesus Christ, individuals can be saved, as there is no other name among people under the heaven, where individuals should be saved.
