- I have always been a fan of the science fiction genre. The reason is that it opens the mind and imagination to whole new experiences. No matter how far out of the ordinary it is, there is a little bit of intrigue that gets people to wonder if any of what they see can be real, in the future. For example, a person that is watching shows, like “Lost in Space” or “Star Trek”, show space travel. That led the continued advancement in the area of space travel. Also, the tricorder were able to inspire the idea of the MRI and a NASA tool known as LOCAD.
- Going back to the time when the kiss occurred, interracial couples were very taboo. There were still issues with civil rights movements and the attempting to gain equal rights. The last thing that would have been expected would be to see an interracial kiss. We have overcome many of the issues regarding the beliefs that were held back then about interracial couple, but there are few things today that would cause that much controversy.
- Bringing it forth to today, it would be like having a person admitting to being with a member of another species, or actually televising rape, instead of just talking about it. There are now so many things that are not understood that are being televised that it is hard to maintain an idea of what is acceptable and what is not, when it comes to what is being shown on network television.
- I think that there is a lot of information that was obtained and it did seem like the mud-slinging debates that occur in more modern times. I think as a perspective voter, I liked the layout of the debate and the information that was given.
- I think that as a voter standards have drastically changed. Now the focus seems to have moved away from what can be offered or the opinions of the candidates and went to what have they done wrong, or what can they say negative about the opponent.
- The candidates do not worry as much about what they can do to better society. They worry about finding more negatives to point out about their opponent, because they feel that this will give them the upper hand in the ballots.
- I do think that media does play a role in this, but I do not think that the media is solely responsible for the negative campaigning that occurs, today. I think that a lot of what is used to be able to push that is the ideal that the media companies may agree with what their superiors or the community locals want them to agree with for the purpose of ratings.
