Part 1
In terms of personality traits, there are several ways to discuss my personality with several theories. Among them, one of the most effective theories is the big five traits theory. According to the big five traits personality, i.e. Openness, extraversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness and emotional stability, I can list following traits to my personality.
As an individual I am highly open and willing to new experiences. Some of the traits that I can list about my intellect are imaginative, insightful, curiosity and creativity. As a person I continuously challenge myself to think beyond the obvious. Therefore, I score high on the scale of openness.
I also think I am prompt and highly reliable individual as I always complete my tasks on time and give no chance to other for any complaints. I am highly thorough, methodical and organized in completing the tasks assigned. Therefore, I score high on the scale of conscientiousness.
Extraversion is the level of enthusiasm and sociability of an individual. In terms of extraversion, my traits include assertiveness, talkative, enthusiastic, sociability and highly energy. I believe I get my energy from interaction with others. Therefore, I score high on the on the scale of extraversion.
I am highly cooperative, compassionate and friendly in nature. Other traits include affectionate, kind and sympathetic, making me highly agreeable as an individual. The level of my kindness and friendliness makes me a highly agreeable individual.
Neuroticism includes traits such as emotions, calmness and tranquility. I score moderately on the emotional stability scale as I am somewhat neurotic as an individual. Even though I have some negative emotions, I do not think I am emotionally unstable. I do take a lot of tension and I am very moody at times.
Part 3
The assessment does not provide useful or accurate information about my personality and gives differing opinion of the traits identified in the first part of the exercise. The assessment is not useful, as I personally do not agree with several aspects of the results and identify myself with the traits identified in the earlier exercise. I learned that it might be possible that I and people around me have the wrong opinion about myself as an individual. My personality traits listed in the first art were somewhat different from those identified in the exercise.
I cannot suggest another preferable method, as it was my first experience of analyzing my own personality traits. But over time, I will identify other methods that can also be used in place of the current exercises. When managers have access to MBTI profiles of their employees they can better manage their performances, but it is possible that some of the employees might be typecasted as unable to work in teams or trouble makers.
Yes, as an exercise it was worth the time invested as it helped in teaching about several traits I have as an individual and gave an idea about the diverse ways available for understanding and analyzing personality traits. But, I still think the exercise fails to give justice the means to identify personality traits of an individual, as some of the answers can be changed in a different scenario. I believe that the best way to analyze a person’s personality is through examination or event-driven analysis, where traits on examined by behavior. These exercises would give a clearer idea about the traits and the perception of the individuals.
