In the first place, telehealth services increase the access of the general public to various health care facilities. For instance, on introducing the remote healthcare services in my organization, rural people can easily obtain specialty care in various departments. Particularly, women with small children need not come all the way to the hospital by travelling long distances (Werner, 2012). In light of our organization’s strategic location amid several originating sites inhabited by medicare beneficiaries, we look forward to doing sizeable telehealth services. Cardiovascular and trauma care we currently specialize in can save lives of many patients who have twice the likelihood of dying of such emergency situations in the absence of timely care. Even as telehealth services covering trauma care have been introduced only recently, in view of the fast emerging telecare services, our organization can explore the possibilities of extending our remote healthcare services to emergency care and telesurgery as well.
My research suggests that around four fifth of the healthcare spending of US goes to treatment of the chronically ill. On the other hand, effective treatment of the chronically ill is hindered by a delivery system that is more fragmented (Baker et al, 2011). I foresee a great opportunity for our organization in treating remote chronically ill patients through telehealth that adopts a coordinated approach. The approach calls for establishing neighborhood healthcare programs that integrate telehealth and care management for treating chronically ill patients who are not economically well off and living in remote areas. Also, my research has given me the confidence of providing excellent patient outcomes in monitoring both the chronically ill and the aged patients. No doubt, the development of state of the art remote technology facilitates telehealth service providers to easily obtain clinical information, do precise diagnosis and develop befitting treatment plans that lead to outcomes similar to in-person care in our organization.
