Business Management Decision
Interoffice Memo
Sandwich Blitz, Inc. needs to grow and expand its operations to other areas. Therefore, it will be a better idea if a new position can be created to coordinate with the location managers. Creating the new position between the CEO and the location managers will help a great deal as we will be able to delegate daily operations duties to the Daily Operations Manager. As a result, we will have more time to concentrate on the strategic issues regarding the Company.
The decision on either to fill the new position from within or outside the organization is somehow a difficult one since each decision has a merit and a demerit. However, having one from outside may be the best one since the incumbent is likely to come with new and better ideas that can be of great importance to the management of the organization. Promoting a manager who is already familiar with the operations of the organization can be argued to be the best advantage of the other option, but it may not lead to new and better ideas in Sandwich organization.
These decisions should be made by both of us because of many of reasons. One of the reasons is that the incumbent will report to both of us. And the other important reason is that he or she will assume some of the functions that were previously done by both of us. Therefore, the incumbent will need to obtain ideas from both of us on the way we have been executing the operations of day to day and also involve his or her ideas to make it better.
If this new position is created, Sandwich Blitz, Inc. will have more levels of authority than before. Therefore, the following are the list of levels of authority (management) that the organization will have:
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) - Dalman
Chief Financial Officer (CFO) - Lei
Middle-Level Authority
Accountant- reports to CEO and CFO
Daily Operations Manager- reports to CEO and CFO
First Line Authority
Store Managers- reports to the Daily Operations Manager
Team Leads- reports to the Store Managers
Customer Associate- reports to the Team Leads.
