Uber will not be the face of the new labor force in the future. The conclusion of the assignment question is that Uber has a problem with employment retention even though it is a global transport company thus confirmation that it will not be the face of future of work. A Harvard research professor states that after analysis of the Uber Company that the most of its staff, the drivers, choose to work at their choice, when and for how long with minimum supervision (Lawrence 1).
The Uber company drivers work between 15 to 20 hours a week not the same with other private sector company where an employee can put up with at least 40 hours a week. The other proof that Uber will not be the face of future work is that only represent 0.06% of the private sector compensation.
The company highly depends on its labor for its success. As a company it will have to face the challenges that face the job market today, such challenges are such as employment policies, demographic of the workforce, globalization and immigration (Altman 34). The systems tend to determine the wages of the drivers even though the company says it provides a side income for part time driver. However, the systems are not regulated, and Uber takes advantage of that to succeed in business but because of the size of the company it does not raise issues but whatever the size it does have a negative impact when it comes to the labor sector.
The company hid its economic footprint in the private sector by releasing its statistics of its workforce to the public. The result published say that Uber had 160,000 drivers when the truth was that it had 80,000 drivers. It showed that the company represents 0.1% of full-time equivalent employees at the end of 2014 (Lawrence 1). The results have not significantly impacted the ones conducted at the end of 2015 as it shows that Uber play a minor role in the economy by providing only 0.1 to 0.14% of the total employment sector by the end in 2015 in the US.
The other point is that the growth of the company has not been much since it foundation. The research done by the census bureau stated that companies such as Uber make revenues only a bit more that 3% of the total American Revenue majorly because it has a very small economic impact (Lawrence 1).
