Parenting can be exasperating and onerous if seen only as presiding over a child’s growth. However, if parents see it as an opportunity for personal growth and a good chance of imparting important life lessons into their children, it can be one of the most creative and upholding involvements that life offers. My mother used to believe that raising children was giving her a chance to improve and broaden her personal horizons, and she really took her time to model me and prepare me for the tough life that was ahead of me. Despite the fact that I have been able to develop my own personality, moral values, erratic rhythms and interests, I can still attribute my current success to the many lessons that I learnt from my mother. The most important of these lessons are patience and love.
My mother told me that each and everyone of us want everything right here, right now but that is not always how things work. We need to be patience as this helps us develop a positive experience in life(Valdez, 09). However, it makes us experience the mere feeling of pain and suffering. I vividly recall one of her encouraging statement where she said, “We regularly experience great bliss and sometimes we keep on wondering why we spent a great portion of our life suffering, but we need to be patient and endure our lives since pleasure is not enjoyable without the pain” (Valdez, 12).
When I was in college, I used to wonder why I was not registering the desired results despite my commitment and hardwok towards my studies. A friend of mine experienced the same and unfortunately he could not bear it any longer and dropped during our second year in college. I too thought of the same but a quick sense swept through my brain and I remembered my mother’s words. I therefore decided to stay in school, endure the suffering and wait for the pleasure. Within no time I found myself improving and life become a little bit easier for me. I was able to maintain my success and finally completed college with a first class grade a factor that enabled me to quickly obtain a job in the market. The job too was not easy regarding how the senior employees take undue advantage of junior employees like I was. However, I did not quit the job because I knew that one day the scenario would change. With time, I rose through the ranks and many were surprised when they realized that I had risen to the position of the CEO of ‘Delarue’ company. Were it not for my mother, I could have given up long ago.
With love, everything is possible (Jack, 01). Conflicts block our potential, keep us spinning and pressed down. Additionally, engaging in unhealthy relationships makes this conflict worse. Without love, life can be a terrifying experience. I have met people of different calibers in this world but most of them have despised me on a number of occasions. For instance as a CEO, I was once invited for a conference by a fellow CEO of a competing company. I did not turn the offer down bad during the conference he actually expressed his intention of awarding me a car for my excellent performance. I did accept the car and my family too was happy of the same. I practice love towards my children and it has grown to be one of the most closely bonded family. My children and wife feel that life is totally complete.
As depicted above, the lessons that one learns from their parents can really be of great help in their future life as they determine the decisions that one makes in life. I learnt of love and patience from my mother and the two has enabled me to live a successful, enjoyable and complete life.
