I can attest that my communications skills have since improved considerably compared to how I was at the onset of the semester. By merging the instructor’s comment and the readings acquired in class, I was able to improve on my strengths and suppress my weaknesses. At the beginning of this semester, I had formulated a number of goals to accomplish in regards to the objectives of this course. In essence, my goals included improving on how I organize my arguments and ideas in a speech, acquiring significant skills that will enable me develop a strong conclusion, improve on my presentation style and skills, and finally develop skills that will enable understand my audience.
In regards to the aforementioned goals, my communications skills have improved significantly. By using the information provided in class and comments from the teacher, I have since developed effective skills on how to formulate a strong conclusion. I can now develop a conclusion that summarily wraps up all my points with ease. Additionally, I have improved on my presentation style and how I organize my speech. I can now organize my points in a speech chronologically using appropriate transitions in a simple and understandable manner. Having accomplished the aforementioned goals, I can attest that I have considerably improved on my strengths and suppressed my weakness.
Irrespective of these improvements, I still face challenges getting composed and gaining confidence during public speaking. Though I have accomplished some of the goals formulated at the beginning of this semester, I still face challenges with my confidence. The above will essentially act to impair my strengths, considering that a well-written speech will in effect fail to accomplish the intended impact to the audience due to my lack of confidence.
