“Life isn't about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself.”
What will you do with your one wild and precious life?
I have always thought of life as of a colorful magazine — all you need to do is to leaf through it, and choose things you like the most. Perhaps, some people will not understand such an approach, and most of them do not; but I am confident that the Universe offers everyone myriad of possibilities, and we need to be brave enough to accept them. Having done much thinking, I came to the decision that I want my life to be about impressions and positive emotions, received and gifted to others. I am sure that on different stages of my life, positive emotions will be caused by various things, and the main thing is to be open for them.
At this point, I came up with a set of values, which will guide me through the next 5-10 years of my life. These values are: productive work, human relationship, and art.
I sincerely believe that man has to work hard for everything he gets, and that is why productive work comes first on my list of values. Good day is always a productive day, however, unfortunately, most of us do not even notice that. While many people dream of the time, when they have everything and don’t need to work anymore, I, on the contrary, think that a person can live a fulfilling life only when he works and loves what he does. That is what I am going to devote my life to. And with the help of the PLU, I will become a well-rounded professional, who not only works hard for the good of the society, but also works well, to be satisfied with himself.
One cannot imagine any well-being without human relationships. As Jon Krakauer said, «happiness is not worth it, when you have no one to share it with», therefore, in my life I will commit myself to my friends, family and the loved ones.
And finally art, this mysterious source of beauty, love, and inspiration, a creative interpretation of the world around by talented people. Immortal beautiful creations of Greek sculptors and architects, Florentine mosaic artists, Raphael and Michelangelo Dante, Petrarch, Mozart, Bach, Tchaikovsky. It is so exciting when you try to delve into the world, created by geniuses. Nowadays it is impossible to imagine what our lives would look like without pieces of art. In my life, I intend to grasp as much artistic works as possible, tryind to understand messages sent by geniuses of past generations.
All in all, these aforementioned principles cover all the spheres of my interests, to which my life will be dedicated. If anything else, new and interesting comes by, I will be more than happy to let it into my wild and precious life. I also hope that with the help of the Pacific Lutheran University I will be able to get a wide variety of experiences and knowledge, which will help me to become a productive and rational human being.
