In the year 1933 when Adolf Hitler rose to power in Germany, the country harbored the largest number of Jews that were over half a million. The parliament of the time bestowed dictatorial powers to Adolf Hitler. The Nazis, led by Hitler, were the starters of the inhumanity and cruel acts that befell the Jews. All the problems, mistreatment, discrimination, and deaths that are faced by the Jews in Germany and other countries are as a result of the Nazis laws.
Under the leadership of Hitler, Germany is spreading its territorial administration across several countries. Poland has acted as the save haven for the Jews with over three million Jews living in the country for many years. We live in harmony with the other races and groups of people. Every human being has equal rights indiscriminately of the race he/she is from, be a Jew or a non-Jew.
With the news German laws and the alarming rate in which there are spreading their territorial wings, there is more than enough reason to make us worried of our safety. We already know how the Nazis are treating the Jews and there are fears that once they encroach Poland we will not be spared. It is a state of fear, hope, and tense.
I am writing to you, maybe for the last time, to inform you of my decision to stay even if the Nazis powers extend in Poland. I won’t flee the country and leave my people to die under the cruel hands of the Germans, but rather I will stand by their side and fight for what is right.
It is my hope that amidst the struggles for our rights and freedom in the rebellious position, that I will survive long enough to update you on the ongoing in the country. It is better to die when fighting for what is right than to live suffering.
1940
The temptation to flee from the country is the thought that rumbles every minute that passes in this German ruled country. The Germans have already stormed Poland and their discrimination on the Jews is outright cruelty. After the Poland defeat by the Germans, the Jews are being apprehended forcefully and taken to the newly created ghettos at Lodz, Warsaw, and Krakow awaiting decision to be made on their fate.
Himmler, a leader of a loyal Hitler’s troupe has ordered for the construction of a camp to hold us as detainees near the city of Oswiecim. We are being held by the Nazis and forced to provide labor in the German-owned factories in Poland like slaves. Jews from the German country are being deported into this death camps in an effort to concentrate them in one region.
At times we rebel against the German cruel ruling and this often ends up with brutal beating and deaths of some of the people. Nevertheless, we are determined to keep on rebelling against the discrimination with hope that one day we will acquire freedom.
There are some of us who opt to flee the country and into Jew-friendly nations. Even fleeing encounters some challenges with the friendly countries limiting the number of immigrants. Furthermore, the risk of being caught escaping by the Nazis always results to a death penalty. I am always tempted to escape, but the conviction of one day being among the heroes who fought for the rights of the Jew people keeps me going. Wish you a wonderful time there.
