The first video I consulted was by Jodie Jones, an elementary school teacher, since 16 years, who wants support from OLLU and to work as a field educator and psychotherapist at the Renewal Christian Counseling Center. As she wants to gain a better understanding of psychotherapy so that she can help clients get diagnosed quicker, I believe she needs to understand that simple observation and interaction might take longer than anticipated. Professional psychotherapists have years of experience of interaction and researching case studies which make them adept in knowledge and comprehension of illness. Therefore, if Jodie wants to pursue a career in this, she must get guidance from and work with experienced psychotherapists who will assist her in the right manner. Her shortcomings cannot be improved by amateurs, in fact, they might not be able to detect the fault at all, so she will need expert help to excel in her field work and make amends on her own as well. Moreover, her work will serve as an example for the support team. (OLLU, 2016).
The second video I watched was Samantha Maybern’s who lives in Alaska. She’s a wife; her husband is in the military, and she has been living there since 2014. Graduating from North Western State University in 2014, she majored in Social Work and then began to pursue her Masters. I think Samantha is an inspirational woman who has supported her husband and meanwhile followed her dream as well. Her ambitions are strong, and her intentions are clean. The help she wants to provide to parents and individuals with OCS involvement and substance abuse is applauded, and much needed. She could record the work she has done with clients or a particular client she has worked on and assessed. This will encourage and invite others to enroll and help her strengthen the program. Reaching out to people through blogs or v-logs might help as well. Also, publicizing and advertising on social media will be an even better step. I believe she can achieve a lot this way. (OLLU, 2016).
