Running a telecommunication business is to provide outclass services to customers based on their satisfaction. To provide customers with satisfactory services, our company keeps personal information of all of our customers including their name, contact numbers and their preferences based on their orders. Company uses an electronic system to store all the data. Our store is a one-stop shop as everything is done to make it as suitable as possible.
Our computer is the heart of our success in providing best of our services to customers. The electronic system of storing information is safe and strong method than the older ways hand written tickets. Through computer, information of customers can be accessed with few seconds. For instance; personal information of customers including name and contact number, also, things they have dropped off at the present time or in past, orders they have made and much more. Another advantage of using an electronic database is that it produces printed a copy of both bills of clothes and tickets. In this way, use of paper is reduced creating an eco-friendly environment. With the usage of the electronic system for keeping information, human error can be reduced completely. We have incorporated software which uses both name and picture of the item to remove human error. Another strong point of using a computer in the store is that it enables us to modify all the objects according to customer requirement. (Black & Lynch, 2001)
Though, besides its useful advantages (strengths), computer-based database has some disadvantages (weaknesses) as well. The first weakness of computer is that in order to remove older statement we have to erase current statements too. Also, when the limit of invoice numbers is crossed, the tickets require more papers to fit the invoice numbers on them; consequently, making them unfeasible. No option is available to reset the statement numbers. Many of the pre-programmed articles present in the software (built-in programs) do not enable us to remove items that are not used. The unusable objects acquire much of available space that can be used for some important objects. Taken as a whole, the program has so many too many constraints in customization.
In my opinion, the present information system at my workplace can be improved by making it more customers friendly and exceedingly customizable. If I get the opportunity to revise the program, I will do it by forming a self-descriptive system (plug in play). By customizable I mean that the improved system would enable users (customers) to personalize the program system according to them like, the customized settings which are altered by the user of the car. For instance, when a customer signs into the system with his personal email id and enters a password, his profile appears, and system settings are changed and system would appear according to customers’ settings. A further advancement can be made by employing connect the credit card machine to the system to make the transaction more user-friendly, practical and efficient. This option has only one disadvantage that is it would be a costly procedure, and we would need more tools. Despite the fact that achieving excellence, is not possible in any system but implementing new telecommunication program help accelerate the operations of the company. This will help in increasing the profits of the company, and ensuring we stay competitive in this tough economy.
