Immunizations
Immunizations
There are numerous needs that can be addressed in the focus area of immunizations. This process builds on the needs addressed in the first paper while addressing multidimensional needs and expectations of community endeavors. In this analysis, Erie County will be identified within the context of specific focus areas and program strategies. HP 2020 objectives are also used and can describe results for the key intended population. Intervention and related programming can be used to achieve variegated objectives. Several key aspects of the program and the parties involved with executing them will be explored. These aspects contribute to program outcomes and significance of the assessment at large. Since OT is a general focus in this analysis, the current and future program implementation standards will be defined.
According to the preliminary research investigation, immunization was a unique health need that would be better served within Erie County through multidimensional community program objectives. This community is representative of all major age groups. The population has multidimensional needs according to global health and immunization standards in order to limit preventable disease in the population.
Focus area of program found (also provide link or copy of program) (4 pts) Link: http://www2.aap.org/international/immunization/one.html
The ONE campaign creates incentive for advocacy and funding in areas of health development around the world. One of the eminent program objectives is to promote global immunization. Current issues and trends suggest that fighting extreme poverty and disease can lead to better investments and more resilient policies for international development. This is true based on existing initiatives in other countries, and applies directly to the population of Erie county.
Vaccines and immunizations are important because of the critical role they play in addressing preventable illnesses. Presently, there is a limited budget allocated for immunizations and health improvements in these necessary areas. The continued support and promulgation of programs that address immunization and vaccine related health needs will support the population of Eerie County in addition to other geographic areas around the world (Global, 2016).
Which of the HP 2020 objectives would this involve? (Identify a HP objective and describe how it is linked to the identified need)(2 pts)
Many of the objectives that this program creates are useful towards the development of Erie County. Maintaining vaccines and reducing causes of preventable illness are consistently demonstrated through this initiative. Some specific outcomes that apply to the target population are reducing hepatitis B, measles, mumps, pertussis, and rubella. These are particularly relevant because of their ability to create better defenses within the population while addressing incumbent needs (Healthypeople.gov, 2016).
Intended population (Identify the population so it is clear to the reader) (2 pts)
The intended population of this intervention would be adults and families who can benefit from immunization and vaccination within Erie County. The number of procedures reflects variegated needs of children and adults; therefore the intended population can include all age groups accordingly.
Intervention/programming provided (Identify and describe the intervention/programming clearly to the reader) (3 pts)
Some of the ways that interventions have been carried out include the proper administration of vaccines, antibiotics, screening and scientific aspects of health. The propagation of relevant information, administration of vaccines and additional services amongst health care institutions contribute to a comprehensive programming strategy.
Goal of intervention (Described the goal of the intervention and explained how the goal of the intervention is linked to the need)(3 pts)
Healthy People 2020 created a systematic solution to eminent immunization needs. Their focus on community and clinical activities has lead to the prevention of numerous infectious diseases through partnerships and vaccination through numerous clinics. Local health departments and organizations have contributed towards the development of infectious diseases while simultaneously addressing prevention and treatment outcomes.
How was the program carried out (2 pts) and by whom (2 pts)
The program consisted of various efforts in three areas: creating awareness, implementing immunization and addressing health needs from a clinical perspective. A number of shots were distributed through community clinics and related health environments. Additionally, the program sought to inform and educate the target population with informational and related content that promoted their objectives. The program was further documented through larger governing bodies in order to identify themes in the population. Outcomes have since been updated on the program website in order to illustrate contemporary changes and strategies in the treatment of preventable disease.
Was there a report on how the program went; program outcomes (Identify how the program went/program outcomes. If none provided, suggest one outcome assessment that could be used) (if applicable please discuss this) (2 pts)
The program has been consistently monitored in terms of efficacy and improvement within the general population. Some of the outcomes that are suggested from this assessment create impetus for HPV vaccinations, Seasonal influenza, tuberculosis and the treatment of relevant diseases affecting youth. Objectives related to the promotion of immunizations and vaccinations are documented to some degree, indicating that program initiatives have been continually developed in the program. Not all objectives are numerically categorized, as there are consistent updates and revisions to the policy surrounding their implementation. Nevertheless, outcome assessments that could be used in proximal surveys would document the availability of immunizations to treat preventable diseases in addition to information/training outcomes.
OT involvement? (Describe how OT is or could be involved with the program currently or in the future in a way that is clear to the reader) (2 pts)
OT could be involved in the process of growing population awareness regarding preventable diseases and understanding how to address incumbent needs. Additional rehabilitation and the promotion of health and well being demonstrated that occupational therapy can be used within the paradigm of responsible and sustained immunization. When patients are initially diagnosed or concerned about preventable diseases, the role of OT can be used to document and deliver the appropriate solutions. While not all programs have outlined these standards in a clear way, there are potential avenues that OT can benefit Erie County through traditional practice standards and methods.
Overall, the program does provide considerable standards that address immunization needs. This paradigm suggests that there are a variety of solutions that can propagate much needed health services in Eerie County. While there are some areas that these policies could benefit from greater diversification, the program standards are comprehensive and the population can be served by existing functions to a great degree. It is important to identify core aspects of the program that can be augmented to serve greater populations. For example, immunization and education related to its importance is something that could be offered in a widespread and meaningful way.
