Good Example Of Luke Bryan’s Concert Review Essay

Country singer Luke Bryan turned in a somewhat dismal show in Baltimore as part of his “Kill the Lights” tour of 2016. Much of the problem was the redundant nature of many of the songs. Not a big fan of country to begin with, Bryan’s performance, with a few exceptions, comprised songs that I thought sounded similar to each other. Thus, it seemed as if the entire show ran on for hours and hours. His attire appeared very commonplace, which may have been a mistake, because he needed something to offset the poor sound which echoed throughout the large, cramped auditorium.
For some reason, the other performer, Dustin Lynch, sounded much better from a technical standpoint. Lynch also dressed simply, wearing jeans, t-shirt, and a cowboy hat. Lynch’s music, although country as well, sounded somewhat more appealing, as the songs were more melodically varied. The back-up band, especially the lead guitarist, played solos that also sounded like each other. Thus, it was hard to differentiate many of the songs due to the lead guitarist’s performance. Albeit dull, the show appealed to the very large crowd, as they yelled uncontrollably when both singers sang.
Quite honestly, much of this music is unappealing to me, and I am a biased listener. Nonetheless, this show needed help as far as lighting and sound. The lighting was too dark, and impaired my ability to see the singers. The acoustics of the auditorium lent an echo-like effect to the songs that stood out as more entertaining, and melodic. With that said, both performers put their heart and soul into their shows, and deserve recognition for playing with enthusiasm, and being popular with their gleeful following.
