How would you characterize Clive Jenkins' behavior and response to this situation?
Since Clive Jenkins was a responsible for boosting the morale inside of the workplace to make sure that the employees are successful. He needs to demonstrate good judgment for all of the employees to follow. He also needs to implement the human resources laws within the organization. Once he does this he is going to be able to do the right thing, understood all of the limitations of the human resources department, and minimize the liability of the company for any type of discrimination (Gomez-Mejia, 2012).
The behavior that Clive Jenkins’ showed in the case study was very unacceptable. Jenkins was the director of the facility so he should have handled the situation a lot more professionally than he did. Before he even talked to Maalick, he took the side of the other employees’. He made jokes at the company’s holiday party about Maalick’s religion and now the jokes seem to be showing up inside of the workplace. This behavior is not professional for anyone who is in Jenkins’ position and the employees of the company. Jenkins’ has made it seem to be okay for the employees to harass Maalick about his culture and his religion.
Based on the Bible verse, Proverbs 14:12, “There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.” Jenkins’ thinks it is okay to harass Maalick and he is not thinking about the consequences (Nelson, 1999). He found a way to exploit the information that he found out about Maalick even though he claimed that he was joking. This type of behavior set a very bad example for the employees who were under the authority of Jenkins. Since he did not report the harassment to Ford, he did not handle the situation correctly. Therefore, I believe that Jenkins should lose his job or at least be demoted since he violated the policies of Treton.
