General Atomics is a company specializing in nuclear physics. It is a defense contractor headquartered in San Diego, California. General Atomics expands into research and manufacturing. Besides, they work at nuclear fission and fusion. The company develops remotely operated surveillance aircraft, unmanned military aircraft, airborne sensors, hazardous waste, superconducting magnets, and information technology, etc.
It is a private company, but it has got a wide media coverage. Generally speaking, a number of TV channels, newspapers, online info-sources and some social media present it. If we analyze fortnight media coverage, we can mention some videos on YouTube. There we find some information on General Atomics as a manufacturer of predator drones and their opening a new office in India. As we see it, the company widens its network in such a way (DefenceExclusive, 2016). Another video presents General Atomics MQ “Predator” among 10 top drones in the world (Top 10 Drones in the World, 2016). (Arronlee33, 2016). Moreover, a new General Atomics model appeared as a green screen animation (World of Green Screen, 2016). While analyzing YouTube videos, we make a conclusion the company is a world leader producing drones.
The Washington Post mentions General Atomics together with Northrop Grumman as major defense contractors and drone makers (Kolpack, 2016). However, they are not the only online media source to discuss the company.
Google Finance releases a number of articles about the company these days. General Atomics reveals its plans to create Nuclear Next-Generation Reactor which will produce power at almost half lower cost (Nikolewsky, 2016). The information about the company opening a new office in India is also published in Flight Global (Stevenson, 2016). Besides, General Atomics is mentioned as an arresting gear producer to the Navy’s $12.9 billion aircraft carrier (Capaccio, 2016).
