Good Example Of Men And Women: Not An Equal Playing Field Essay

Looking throughout the country there are many men and women that hold the same jobs, but there is also statistical evidence that proves these men and women do not make the same amount of money while doing the same jobs. There is no true and official reasoning as to why this is the case, but the data and the statistics about the average salaries of certain positions does not lie. If men and women were so equal in the 21st century then why is there a such a gap that it can be statistically calculated in the amount of money each sex gets paid for doing the same job.
When writing this paper I was asked to provide proof for how men and women are not treated the same even in today’s day, and I actually have a personal experience I would like to share. Throughout time it is has been accepted that women are doing everything on their own, and this includes taken their automobile to the mechanic in order to get work done. Recently I have witnessed a female relative of mine take her vehicle into the shop, but she also has a best friend who is a mechanic. When she took the vehicle in she was very specific as to how and what she wanted done. The shop, not knowing that the woman had a mechanic friend, attempted to sell her nearly one thousand dollars in extra work and parts without a definite description as to why. This situation is not as widespread but is definitely as well-known as the difference in pay between man and woman, and it needs to be noted.
In a society that promotes fairness and equality to both sexes it is apparent that it is not always the case. Throughout the years there has been much progress with men and women and the equality of women, but there needs to be more. When a female relative of mien is now hesitant to enter a car repair shop because she now knows she will be targeted, there is a definite problem that needs to be addressed.
