The main parties in the research will be the researcher and the passengers, flight crews, and the management of the Malaysia airlines. All airlines use different technology but the focus will be on the passenger airlines due to the level of safety necessary. The researcher will engage a longitudinal research strategy to compare the reactions of the different samples people over time without necessarily tampering with the variables. At the same time, the research will involve a lot of analytics with the passenger demographics and reactions to different technological changes under watch. The research will be carried out in the airline for a one-month period to review the different reactions over time.
The sampling strategy will involve stratified sampling where the crew, the management, and the selected passengers will be put into strata. Each of their reactions to the changing technology will then be observed over time to know whether the technological changes will affect them. Data from the flights departments in some countries reveal that passengers shun untested technology in the aircrafts. This will form a sample question that the researcher will consider during the research. Some of the samples will possibly be big, like the passengers, hence systematic stratified sampling will be used as follows. The researcher will use systematic random sampling in the strata after establishing how many passengers to pick from each category. The researcher will pick the ‘nth’ passenger of each level. The aggregate sample size collected will be thus studied thereby reducing systematic bias and the sampling errors. Notably, only 50 passengers, 12 flight crew members, and 6 members of the management team will be involved in the research and will form the samples. All the sample people will be selected based on willingness and travel frequency.
The study’s objective is to compare the aircraft operations with advanced technology and without the advanced technology. This will require three main research instruments. 1) Questionnaires will help to know the feelings of the people when the technology is altered for the better. 2) Archive records will help the researcher to know how the people reacted to advancements in aircraft technology in the past. 3) The internet will help to align the results that will be obtained from the study with the occurrences in other parts of the world.
The researcher will be under pressure to ensure the data reliability and validity. In order to eliminate the different errors, the questionnaires will have fewer questions to avoid tiring the respondents. At the same time, the researcher will consider selection by a third party to avoid bias. The 68 people will be repeatedly evaluated in their responses to ensure that there will be no cases of inaccurate coding from the research. In order to ensure data validity from the research, the research will need two main tools. 1) The test-retest tool will help the researcher to assert the accuracy of the data obtained from one respondent to another in the research. 2) The internal consistency form will be used separately for every stratum to ensure that the variations are not too wide to suggest a variation in study conditions.
Pre-engineered data analysis will help the research to attain accurate inferences. The questionnaires will be analyzed based on the strata with the historical comparison of the data to what comes from the archives necessary. The researcher will utilize the following Likert scale of 1-4 to show reactions of the parties to changes in technological features. Have you ever been nervous when you realized new safety technology on the aircraft?
The researcher will also be interested in knowing whether the parties react calmly to changes in safety due to technological advances in technology. The lead question will be: do you agree that people react adversely to changes in technology aimed at improved security in the aircrafts? Ratings will be based on a Likert scale of 1-4 as follows:
1) Strongly disagree
2) Disagree
3) Agree
4) Strongly agree
The different data obtained from the research will be organized in a way to ease analysis of the data. Note that the research will end with explanation of the ethical considerations for the research. The research ethics that will apply in the research include the following:
- The researcher will seek the consent of the respondents in the research by explaining to them the benefits that they will expect from the research.
- The researcher will ensure the privacy and confidentiality of the information from the research in order to enhance the integrity in the information.
- The researcher will also explain and maintain the privacy and benefits of the research partners in the research.
- The researcher will also have to maintain integrity and honesty in the dissemination of information to the parties interested in the research.
