Michael Kahn’s name is not unknown to the world as one of the most well-recognized Hollywood film editors. His contribution to the Hollywood film industry has been remarkable as he has edited about seventy movies since the start of his career. He has been working with the renowned Steven Spielberg for more than three decades. In addition, he has also edited several TV series and feature films such as Hogan’s Heroes and The Savage is Loose etc. He is also a prominent member of ACE (American Cinema Editors). The most remarkable thing about Kahn is that he still uses film to edit and try not to edit projects digitally. He acknowledges that it is difficult for people to believe that he and Spielberg still use Moviola and KEM to edit films. According to Spielberg, the rhythms of Kahn “are the best in the world, and he tries to throw the audience off of their expectations” (Jackson 71). One of the most important things to mention here is that Kahn holds the record of being the most-nominated film editor in Academy Awards. He has been nominated eight times for his editing skills. He is also famous for his three Oscars for Raiders of the Lost Ark, Schindler's List and Saving Private Ryan. It is important to mention that all these films were directed by Steven Spielberg. Kahn’s other achievements include 6 nominations in British Academy Film Awards out of which he won two awards for Fatal Attraction and Schindler’s List. Thus, it is true that he is the best in the game and there are very few film editors who have achieved such an outstanding status in the Hollywood.
