Human Resource Management,
RE: Request for Job transfer
I am an expert Registered Nurse working in the acute psychiatric unit. I have been working for the hospital for five years in the inpatient mental health. I began my career in July 2011 as a new grad nurse in psychiatry. I chose to start off my nursing profession in psychiatry because I wanted to follow my passion for mental health.
However, I realized I need and want the medical base a new grad nurse typically undergoes so that I can become the best nurse for both the facility and my patients. I have gained several features (as opposed to hands-on technical) foundations skills in my first five years of nursing career in mental health.
I work both as a charge nurse in my unit and as a staff RN and during the five years of nursing, I have gained a lot of skills including communication skills, delegation, using the nursing process to manage the entire milieu and access patients, collaborating with an interdisciplinary team and prioritization in the hospital. Now I need to move forward in my nursing profession and give more intensive care for my patients.
I know that the skills I have gained in the mental health unit, I will take wherever I go, more so in the facility in which I work with veterans. A lot of veterans are faced with physical issues as well as mental ones (PTSD a big one). I hope to transfer units within the hospital from acute psychiatric to medical surgery/floor.
I would like to utilize my expertise and experience in to further the objectives and aims of the hospital at the unit. I am confident that I will greatly benefit the company with my capacity and expertise in the inpatient mental unit.
Sincerely,
