The music presented in the exam is more of blues than bebop. Although there are elements of the music that suggests a distinct indication of bebop, it presents more of the blues due to the rhythm that it follows throughout the arrangement. With the presence of repetitive chords in the music and the patterned manner by which each section of the song is presented over and over specifically makes this selection belonging to the blues genre.
Progression between the common patterns of sound used in the musical arrangement is divided through dominant chords that mark the end of particular pattern and the beginning of a new one. Although the whole arrangement was not as complex as a bebop, nor swing, this arrangement presents a distinct indication of creativity especially on the way the chords were arranged to create a repetitive yet interesting concept of identifying the supposed message of the piece. Played in a harmonic seventh approach, the intervals between the chords are easily distinguishable.
The flattened points in the chords used to play the music identify well on what genre the said musical piece belongs to. Noted as grace notes, the arrangement also has a sliding tone into it that is able to create a distinct embellishment to the music that is most often than not common in blues arrangement. The rhythm of the piece is most likely determinable based on the walking bass that it sets in the background practically creating a common beat in the entire arrangement. The shuffles used in the arrangement are however different from that of a swing as it is much simpler and steadier in form.
