One of the most brilliant songs with amazing vocals and vocals arrangement in the history of songs is the song “We are the World”. The song embraces a wide range of dynamics, sound quality with backing vocals to give a wonderful connection to the lyrics. Notably to this is the chorus where the artists blend their voices to produce amazing vocals. The dynamics of the vocals in the song help connect the lyrics of the song by appealing to the listeners depending on the person they are listening to since the song is composed of different artists all with amazing different levels of vocals.
In the second song “One voice” by David Guetta he also uses his amazing vocals to portray a unique style of the song which connects well with the lyrics. He also has a strong sense of the way he delivers his music. A good artist is able to deliver the message in the song using vocals. David Guetta is definitely among the best when it comes to deliverance of the message he has a strong and clear voice that relates well with the lyrics in this song. The listeners are, therefore, get the message of the song and enjoy the music, as well.
One way to gauge the success of the song is through analysis of how the vocals are used to supplement the lyrics in a song and especially in the choruses. The intention of the two songs is to raise funds for humanitarian relief. It is evident how the two songs have focused on the use of vocals to bring out the magic of the songs which is something most people are interested.
Another aspect in the two songs is the tempo. In the first song “We are the World” different stanzas are sung by different artists and help to bring an effect to the different tempos in the song. In the beginning of the song, the tempo is slow and moderate to show the sad mood in the song and helps the listeners to have a reflective mind on what the artist is singing about. The chorus brings in another tempo that is a bit fast and charging this brings out another feeling of hope and a chance for potential change of the sad mood. The tempo in this song brings out the different feelings in the song. The listeners then connect with the song up to the emotional levels where their feelings are involved.
In the second song by David Guetta he uses an aspect close to the tempo that of using dynamics to connect emotionally with the listeners. At different levels of the song, he uses adjustments in the general volume changes. This further connects to the texture of the song. All this aspects are important for the artists who are not only entertaining their fans but also pleading to them to donate and contribute in the humanitarian assistance. Good connection between the lyrics and the different aspects are crucial to ensure success of the song.
One more aspect that plays a key role in the two songs is the quality production. Both songs have been produced by some of the best producers in the world. This is an evident observation and underlines the importance of the songs. Bad production may compromise songs that aim at speaking to people’s hearts and cause action through contributions and donations. It is mandatory to ensure good quality production that will result to people liking the song and eventually give towards the humanitarian assistance. Both songs use high sound quality that ensures that there is clarity in the message. Instrumentation is used moderately not to overturn the intentions of the song which is not just about entertainment, but it’s a desperate call for humanitarian relief to people suffering.
Introduction
Over the years, songs have been used for different purposes among them being to raise funds to help people who have been struck by disasters. One of the memorable moments in the history of songs is the year 1985 when almost the entire region of the African continent was faced with a devastating famine. The nature of the disaster provoked many and provided a chance for many to move out of their comfort zones around the world and give a helping hand to the people of Africa. Among the many people who were involved in this campaign to alleviate hunger in Africa was a group of people with musical talents in America. They joined hands and entered a recording studio in Los Angeles, CA, and made a record which they dedicated to alleviating hunger in Africa. The name of the song was “We are the World”. The artists went further to brand themselves a name as “USA for Africa”. This was a very successful tune in relation to its purpose considering it managed to raise over sixty million US dollars.
In similar efforts, David Guetta composed a similar song called “One Voice” to seek funds for humanitarian assistance to support the work of the United Nations. The song is a good production that highlights the need for uniting as one voice to show love. Songs are among the best forms of communication and brings people together easily and faster for social wellbeing and emergencies.
Discussion of the social issue
Humanitarian relief is a common phenomenon in most of the third world parts of the world. Some of the disastrous catastrophes that have happened in the parts of the world have left many people suffering and many others dead. Some of these disasters are natural and their impacts are hugely felt. Societies affected by these catastrophes require assistance from people of good will to help them get back to their normal lives. Humanitarian aid is therefore, important in saving the lives of the many people in the world who require assistance from the numerous challenges that affect their lives. Awareness is important and campaigns are among the tools that are used to raise funds for the needy people in the society. Songs are among the most effective ways of campaigning against the difficult situations that require humanitarian aid. They also help in collecting monies to be used to avert or help in finding solutions of the existing problems in the society. There are numerous non-governmental organizations, charity foundations and United Nations agencies that help in dealing with the humanitarian crisis.
Humanitarian assistance main intention is to alleviate suffering, saving lives and maintain human dignity during and after emergencies (Roberts 157).
Other forms of the humanitarian assistance can include repairing of the infrastructure and disaster preparedness and prevention through early warning systems (Hoffman, James and Cathy 345).
Humanitarian aid can range from the government to international agencies, but campaigns done through international songs target any of the institutions, private organizations, governments or individuals that are able to offer assistance.
A comparison of the songs
Both songs bring a great sense of the philosophy for togetherness. Both titles of the songs have a common urge for people to come together to be one people. The first title of the song is “We are the World” and the second title of the song is “One Voice”. These two titles demonstrate the need for unity in humanity to be referred to as objectively as one people. The songs emphasize the unity of people by overlooking the geographical boundaries. The oneness of the people is important towards the cause of these songs because they create a feeling of love for one another that causes people to give their contributions.
The songs use positive words that are convincing and highlight the reality, and the severalty of the catastrophes and hence need for giving. In the first stanza of the first song the lyrics of the song highlight. The people are dying, and there is a need for people to lend a hand to the greatest gift of all life. David Guetta also in his song urges people to consider giving and become one voice. The songs give a call through which people can come in and support one another as members of the same family.
The songs are well produced especially the sound; this enhances an overall good quality song to listen to and get the correct message. This is because the message in these songs is necessary for the success of the people embracing the song and giving contributions. The integration of the various elements and aspects of the songs is done perfectly. When listening to both songs, there is a feeling of need to concentrate and focus to listen to the lyrics of the songs as they explain the ordeal of the people and what people can do to help the situation. Both songs not only speak to the ear but to the heart of every listener that ignites the feeling of being compassionate.
The words used in both the songs are easy to understand and avoids complicated language and words. There is a feeling of some form of simplicity to the songs that make the listeners relate well to the songs and especially the choruses. In the second song, David uses words like one voice it’s got to be you. These are basic words that are simple, but deliver the message of the song straight forward to the listener.
The songs bring a sense of love and compassionate. They also indicate some form of awareness among the people of the need to help through the spirit of togetherness and unity. The message is further emphasized through the videos of the two songs when the artists are seen uniting with other people. The images in both the videos are a good gesture communicating on the need to unite to save the world.
In the first song, there is more feeling of a declarative position for the need of the world to strongly come together and become one. The use of words like we all are part of Gods family, and truth you know love is all we need is a strong emphasis for people to unite. The second song is also seen to be more proactive in the issue of the humanitarian assistance as David Guetta is seen to recognize the existing need of people to support towards the humanitarian aid. In the first song “We are the World” the impression is that it is a reactive song since it is done after the crisis that was facing Africa.
Conclusion
Based on the success of the two songs it is evident that songs can do a lot in ensuring the dignity of the people’s lives. Songs are a good way to express thoughts and communicate to people especially a wide scope of people. However, to achieve this kind of success requires a high understanding of what good music is made of and doing it. These songs target the general public hence; it is important to make the songs easy to understand and get along with as it is evident in the two songs.
