My research area will be seeking to establish the effect of the withdrawal/ downsizing of some of the teacher training programs in Green Valley School District (GVSD). In order to conduct this research effectively, it is imperative that I use the descriptive research design in order to establish an association between the independent and dependent variable. I will have to find out the relationship between the student performance indices in GVSD and the maintenance or withdrawal/downsizing of teachers training programs.
The population and sampling strategy will include selecting the training programs that can be dropped. These are programs that will not be having a huge impact in teacher performance as well as the benefits that they students stand to gain or lose if the programs are dropped. An experiment may have been good in conducting this research but then choosing the subjects to be used. My population sampling strategy is to select as many programs as possible. I will then choose those which seem to have a huge or less impact in the teaching and learning process. It is from here that I will commence with the task of reaching out to the teachers and learners to establish the effects that withdrawal of these programs will have
The descriptive study will include as many teachers and students as possible, and this means that there will be no biases. I would prefer the descriptive study to the experimental one because it will cover a huge number of participants, unlike the randomly chosen experimental study. This will expose me to what happens on the ground. At the same time, the subject characteristics may not affect the relationship that I will be investigating.
