Net neutrality argues for the broadband service providers to detach completely from the information being sent on their network. It tries to emphasize that no particular class of users should be given priority over any other users. Internet is the most efficient tool for a large number of people, and no information should be made attentive to only a particular class of users instead it should be catering to multiple users. The principle of neutrality is not limited to the internet, it is applicable to everyone who relies on a network. It essentially means to say that all the information that is to be transmitted over the internet must be in order in which they were received, and it should not be subject to any discrimination or should not be priority over any other information.
The purpose of net neutrality is to make sure that the internet is a common carrier which provides its services to all the users equally. Net neutrality helps the startup companies to be able to compete with the big companies. In the case of lack of net neutrality, the cable companies could charge the service providers a ton of money to be able to work faster. The Federal Communications Commission is about to charge plenty of fees for the services specifically for speedy access of the internet. If there is no net neutrality, small businesses and entrepreneurs shall be highly affected because their sites will be slower than the rest. In case you are trying to sell something on the internet, then your product will sell slower than those of the big companies. .
As a service provider, one wants the information to be made available to everyone seeking it. And he would not mind paying a certain amount to be able to sell his information on the internet. The problem of net neutrality can either be solved by market forces or by political forces. The small service providers will either go out of business or will have to eventually pay whatever amount of money they charge. Net neutrality is important for accountants, auditors or businesses so as to be able to make the most of the information available on the internet as a service receiver. And as a service provider, they are equally inclined to sell their information and make the most of the common carrier. Only if it is maintained as a common carrier which serves as a common platform for all the people who need access to the internet. Net neutrality is important for both, small business and large established business. The only difference is that a large business won’t mind paying for their network services. It is important for the people to raise their voice and demand net neutrality, an open platform for access to the information without making anyone a priority over the other.
