Osteoporosis is a disease that weakens bone tissues. This disease causes the bones to become brittle and susceptible to fracturing (Compston & Rosen, 2009, p.47). This program with incorporate both health education and health communication strategies. The program will commence by organizing workshops that will be geared towards sensitizing women about the causes of Osteoporosis and how it can be controlled. This program with include women ages 20 and above. This is because Osteoporosis tends to increase as women approach middle age. At the workshops, women will be able to learn how to maintain healthy dietary plans so as to make sure that there bones remain strong as they grow older. Health professional especially from the Center for Disease Control will be educating women at the workshops. These professionals are going to use the CDC curriculum that can be found on the following website: http://www.cdc.gov/healthyyouth/nutrition/facts.htm
This program will also use the social media to reach to a broader audience. Some of the social media that this program is going to incorporate will include Facebook and Twitter. Other groups that will be involved in sensitizing the public on Osteoporosis among women will include managers at nursing institutions and personnel from the departments of human services. This is because these personnel interact on a daily basis with older women who are likely to be suffering from Osteoporosis. In order to make sure that this program is effective, I will have accounting personnel who will be responsible for making sure that funds donated to our program are directed towards to the desired programs. The program will also include doctors who specifically deal with bones so that they can affirm to the general public the importance of constant medical checkups among women suffering from Osteoporosis.
