Program Evaluation
PROJECT/PROGRAM & Primary Outcome: To ensure more people receive immunizations to prevent the spread of communicable diseases in Erie County
Brief description:
The prevalence of communicable diseases keeps increasing in Erie County because the community lacks proper education and awareness on appropriate immunizations to prevent the problem. A program to increase awareness on the issue was established to help reduce risks of communicable diseases and improve the quality of life and well-being of the community. The following OT evaluates the program to determine its success in achieving set goals.
Who are your stakeholders (identify 4)? 2. How are they involved?
(2 points) (2 points)
Identify one aspect to evaluate that indicates whether the project/program was successful (Indicators) (refer to program objectives). (2 points)
One aspect of evaluation to determine the success of the program is the ability of health care organizations to record some people immunized. Many people in the community have little knowledge on the importance of taking children for immunizations against communicable diseases. Public awareness and campaigns in villages, through media, social gatherings, and through publications increases community awareness about the program. Each health organization can keep a record of the number of children immunized for evaluation purposes.
Explain the purpose of this evaluation (why would you collect data, what will it show). (2 points)
The following evaluation aims at determining the progress of the program and establishing challenges that may limit its full implementation. Data collection will be important in demonstrating the level of program implementation. Data related to the number of people immunized, response from the community and the impact of the program in the health quality of the community will be collected. The data shows efforts of stakeholders in making the program a success.
What type of data will you collect/what design will you use? Qualitative/quantitative (2 points)
Raw data will be collected using the quantitative design. The program is new, and the project team requires original information to help them make evaluate its effectiveness in achieving healthcare goals. Additionally, the primary data will help in achieving the program objectives as opposed to secondary data that uses past findings to make inferences.
What tool will you use? (i.e., survey, pre-post test, interview, focus group, observation, etc.) (2 points)
The OT will engage in a data collection process that captures the views of all stakeholders. Interviews and surveys will be used as the main data collection tools. The purpose of the evaluation process is to determine the effectiveness of the immunization program in preventing communicable diseases in Erie County. Surveys will assist in gathering information from the public on the impact of the program. Moreover, interviews done with health care providers and human agencies responsible for administering the immunization will assist in determining the response of the community to the program. Health providers keep daily records of the number of people immunized.
How will the data results be used? (2 points)
Results from the data analysis will be presented to primary stakeholders to show them the influence of the program. Depending on the observations made, stakeholders may decide to continue with the program or go back to the drawing board and develop new strategies to help meet their objectives.
Who will use the data/results of the evaluation findings? (2 points)
The health care sector, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), health agencies, and health providers will use results. The health sector will use these results to publish their efforts in promoting quality health in Erie County. The CDC will use the data for research while health agencies and health providers use the data to develop evidence-based approaches towards disease prevention and control.
