Part 1: Response to Classmate’s Post
National Governor's Association (2012), “NPs and other health professionals are trained to and already do deliver many primary care services and may therefore be able to help increase access to primary care, particularly in underserved areas” (p. 1). One of the factors which allegedly spurred the increase in demand for primary care services is the apparent growth of the aging population . Moreover, one also believes that the dynamic external environment that influences health care adds to the increasing relevance to expand the NPs role, beyond what it was traditionally believed to encompass.
Concurrently, it was commendable that recognition was duly relayed in terms of the realization that NPs were not confined to a specific gender; nor being relegated as second fiddle to other health care professionals. The formal education and extensive training that have been developed and designed specifically for the expanding role of NPs duly prepare them to address vast challenges in the delivery of high quality patient care. Moreover, the implication that emphasizes NPs’ potentials to bridge the shortage of doctors’ and financial resources’ gap to address health care needs of contemporary generation is seen as an optimistic stance to affirm the noble role that NPs assume in the profession.
