Goal: My main goal is to become a nurse. Given the fact that for a person to become a full-pledged professional, obtaining a degree is a must. Hence my personal plan will focus more on the achievement of balance in all aspects of my life so that it will become easier to accomplish my goals and reach for my dream of becoming a nurse. To achieve balance, it is important to know to manage time properly. In addition, to achieve balance, it is best to become physically fit and healthy. I believe that in the absence of a healthy state of body and mind, people become easily sick thus making it more difficult to focus and perform tasks.
A. To master the art of proper time management
Time management is the capacity of an individual to plan as well as control how to spend the time effectively in accomplishing goals. I learned that with poor management of time, this can often lead to procrastination and problems with self-control. With time management to be effective, it is important to plan for the future by prioritizing tasks, setting goals, and monitoring time. Developing structured approaches for handling time is necessary in creating balance among conflicting demands of every day undertakings. At times it may appear that there is no sufficient time to accomplish everything that there is to be done. This can result to accumulation of stress. With proper time management, I will be able to gain control over my life and make decisions as to where I would want to go and what I would hope to achieve. Through better time management, I will be able to gain more productive hours and become more disciplined both at work and in studies.
Objective 1: Hold firm to the goals.
Possible Barrier: Influence of family members and friends
Remedy: Retain a diary or a copy of all goals set so that when I become tempted to deviate from my goals, I have always a thing to remind me of where my life’s direction should be and that is to become a nurse.
Objective 2: Establish priorities.
Possible Barrier: Social gatherings and unexpected events
Remedy: Apply time management and make sure to attend to all the tasks even if there are social gatherings and unexpected events to cause disruptions in the normal daily living.
B. To become physically fit and healthy
Physical activity is an excellent stress-buster and is critical to normalizing the body after a stressful event. When it comes to the body, stress and exercise are polar opposites.
Regular exercise helps build a type of immunity to the ill effects of stress. When the body is physically fit, the body is also able to act fast in accomplishing tasks.
Objective 1: Eat healthy foods.
Possible Barrier: Invitation from friends or family members to dine out.
Remedy: Each time I will be invited to eat out, I will avoid eating fatty foods and foods with too much salts and carbohydrates. I will always eat foods that have more vitamins and minerals such as fruits, fish, and vegetables.
Objective 2: Exercise regularly.
Possible Barrier: Inadequate rest or too many activities.
Remedy: Set at least an hour or two each day to exercise. Eventually, the body will just adjust and everything becomes a routine and when too tired, light exercises will do.
Conclusion: I believe that a nurse should be an embodiment of balance and health. By accomplishing my goals through implementation of my objectives, I will be able to succeed in becoming a nurse.
