The future of orthodontics is challenging because it creates a lot of expectation for the postgraduate students who are practicing it. Even though general dentists practice the techniques applied by orthodontics in their field but the future is promising. The new techniques that are used in orthodontics help the patients to better understand and analyze the expected results of the treatment as compared to when these treatments are performed by general dentists. On the other hand, there is an issue with the new technologies being available because the general dentists are also able to apply these and perform procedures that orthodontics performs. This setback can create problems in the future for the orthodontic practitioners.
The change in trend and the patients seeking orthodontic care specifically from the orthodontics is a positive result of the patient education and technological advancement that have enabled the professional orthodontics to provide the patients with care and treatment in less time that cannot be performed otherwise. The insurance, advertisement, location of set of orthodontic clinic and the new generation of patients make it difficult for the doctors to create their own setup, as the new generation of patients requires fast treatment time, lower costs as compared to general dentists etc.
It is expected that in the future the orthodontic practice will undergo different changes. I will work hard to achieve my goals and objectives of becoming an expert in my field of orthodontic practice. The rise of the use of information technology will improve the patient care by assisting the workflow. I believe my place and future in the field of orthodontics is promising. In order to become a good specialist not only, I need to fulfill the specialty requirements, but also proper training courses along with practice in the field before launching myself as a specialist in the field of orthodontics.
