The article entitled Unveiled: Pre-wedding Weight Concerns discusses the result of a research about the rate by which Australian brides-to-be are bothered by their appearance and weight-related concerns. The pressure to appear beautiful, elegant and fit is put on the bride-to-be, and this paper provided a comprehensive review about this topic by using references that are relevant to the issue. The article included the result of a study conducted to assess the pressure put into women who are about to get married, specifically, on the need for them to lose weight. A closer examination of the method used to conduct the study indicates that it was well planned, for instance, requesting for the current weight and the desired weight during the wedding is an excellent information to be used in this study.
Moreover, it was also found that the sources used in this article are primary sources, most of which are published in scholarly articles that generally report recent findings and research. This gives the literature an added reliability, since these sources are also critiqued for their relevance in this research. The sources are used to make a clearer idea, such as pointing out to the result of studies that concern over weight decreases with age, which is in contrast to the case of women who are to be wed very soon.
In going over this article, it is decided that the authors followed a logical flow in conducting the research as well as in putting in as a report. For example, magazine articles or the secondary sources are first used in the introductory part, mainly to introduce the topic to be discussed. Consequently, primary materials taken from reliable journals are integrated in the article, and this gives the reader a feeling of consistency. The article helps to enlighten the readers about the topic, such that while weight is an important concern for brides-to-be, the enjoyment of that special day is still paramount. Overall, the article provided a theoretical rationale of the hypothesis, in addition to providing a clear interpretation of the literatures used and how it relates to the topic in question.
