Speech Title:
Four years ago, death robbed us of a very industrious, intelligent and compassionate brother. Today, with great sadness, I stand before you to remember his life. It is never easy to lose someone you love, but when his life was taken away, it was much harder.
My brother's sincere affection and deep love to all his brothers and sisters were undeniable. I remember one day when my youngest sister performed below average in her exams and was worried about the tongue-lashing she would get from our parents, he was there to encourage her and even offered to tutor her on her areas of weakness. He was always there when needed and we miss him dearly.
Additionally, he was very industrious; both in his daily house chores and in his studies. He was always the first to finish his housekeeping duties and help out his other siblings who lagged behind. His love for books made him a darling of teachers and this was reflected in his examination results where he always emerged tops. This made him close to every member of the family and I loved him for his selflessness.
Moreover, my brother was always a keen observer. I remember while we were in primary school, he was always quick to notice odd behavior from other pupils and always warned me against keeping bad company. This showed how much he was concerned about my progress.
As I conclude sharing a few words about my late brother and showing gratitude to everyone for being here, the memories of love, compassion, hard work and keenness from him will forever remain engraved in our memories as a family. I still hold the belief that in some way he still lives in each one of us, with our memories and stories. Until we get together again, may God hold you in the hollow of his hands.
